ASSHOLE!!!

The 5 Things that pissed me off last week

#5 - Someone threw tons of tomatoes in our backyard! Now I have to clean them all up. What idiot just randomly throws a bunch of tomatoes in someone's backyard. IDIOT!

#4 - Went to Applebees before the King's game last Tuesday and I think I had the worst burger I have ever had. Plus, the service was pretty crappy. IDIOT!!

#3 - Kings suck. They are playing like crap! IDIOTS!!!

#2 - Last week at work, I got a floor call. The guy was all excited because some property he has wanted forever just came on the market and he wanted it for his tax business. He said that he couldn't go see it until Monday though. I hate to put it off until then, but you do what you have to do. Yesterday morning as I am getting ready to go meet him, he calls and says nevermind and that he doesn't want it after all. IDIOT!!!!

#1 - The death of Eddie Guerrero. I am not mad at him of course and I am more sad than mad, but it is still the event that affected me the most last week. The tribute show last night was just heart wrenching, but a very nice tribute. "LATINO HEAT!"

R.I.P.- Eddie Guerrero 1967-2005

It is a sad day in the world of wrestling entertainment. This guy was easily one of my favorites for his charisma and skill in the ring. Eddie didn't just entertain, he had actual physical wrestling skills. He was just a joy to watch and I am going to miss not seeing him in the squared circle anymore. I don't know what it is, but this really hurts.

Colin kisses dudes

You know, when guys kiss, whether it be by custom or whatever, I think it is usually the whole cheek- kiss thing. When it is huge smooches like this, I think it can get a little weird. I think a kiss on the lips betwene men should be reserved for a) gay men or b) a mafia member. Now, I am not homophobic or anything, but Colin looks way to cozy with this other guy. Maye it is Colin's hand holding the other man's head. Is he gay? I am sure not. It is Colin Farrell though so he could also be drunk. Actually, since it is him it is a strong possiblity. Or, you know what, he could be that secure in his masculinity that he doesn't mind kisses like this with men. Me personally, I could never do it. Does that make me more of a man or less of one. Thought to ponder.

I actually know who the other guy is. I will give the much coveted NO-PRIZE to whoever can tell me first who this is. I await your answers.

File this under STUPID

You know, Hollywood is just running out of ideas. Sequals, I don't mind as I might to want to watch a further adventure of a character. However, remakes are something that I am not always a fan of. If you are going to remake something, at least do it WAY after the first movie came out... say 30 years or so. Now, two movies that are less than 20 years old are in talks to be remade. Two CLASSICS!

Can someone explain to me why you would want to remake these great movies? Ok, maybe in another 20 years, but now? They were perfect. Why change them? What, are you going to make it for a younger crowd and put Paul Walker in the jungle? Put Ashton Kutcher in the Robocop costume? Why, Why, Why?

However, in other news, there are talks of a Terminator tv show coming out. Now, before you ask why, it won't really be about the Terminator. The show is slated to be called the Sarah Conner Chronicles. This show is supposed to follow her life in between the 2nd and 3rd films. I actually think this sounds pretty interesting. Since there were no Terminator attacks in this time frame, it will be more of her vigilante life rather that some scifi show. I'll watch it just out of curiosity.

The five things that pissed me off LAST week

A little delayed, but you still get the basic idea. This is is everything from last week up until Sunday night. So all this week ddoesn't count yet.

#5 - Still not enough comments from friends on here. What is wrong with you bums?!?!?!

#4 - Francisco Garcia and Kevin Martin - Garbage players.

#3 - Peja - Where is your heart you bum?!?!?

#2 - Sacramento Kings in general. Is there any passion left in this team.? Any heart? Any desire?

#1 - Oh, this is a good one. On Sunday at my open house, another agent from a different company came to look at my open house. She went upstairs. Another person came in. We chit-chatted. We talked a bit about Davis because she lived there and I went to college there. She told me she had tons in equity and was ready to move in to town. Awesome! She went to look upstairs. I went up one minute later. What did I see? The agent who came in was talking to her, giving the woman her business card, and was heard saying that they could leave now to go look at properties. So with my mouth wide open, they left, got in the agent's car, and took off to look at houses. She picked up a client at MY OPEN HOUSE. The balls of this woman. That BITCH!! I was so pissed. I just can't believe that there are people out there that are that shady. May she burn in hell.....

Yes ladies an gentleman I have made a wonderful discovery. You have seen them walking around town. Business men and teenagers alike. They have come in polos and button down dress shirts. Pink is cool for men to wear. Frankly, for some men to wear but that is neither here nor there. Or anywhere for that matter. I simply pay homage to the man who was the first to do it up big and make pink COOL. He is the best there is, the best there was, and the best there ever will be. Bret "The Hitman" Hart invented men wearing pink and I just wish to educate the uninformed. Thank you and Good night. Always remember. Risk is Good. By the way Manuel, yes I already got the Jake "The Snake" Roberts DVD and I will be getting the Bret Hart DVD. You can borrow them anytime.

And you're reproducing?

I had this patient who was going to go home, be we needed an ultrasound first. The ultrasound department was really busy and the patient ended up waiting about 3 hours. Naturally, she got hungry and asked for something to eat. I got her a sandwich, then went back to the front. I'm sitting there charting when the father of the baby comes up to me and we have the following conversation:

"Can I ask you something?"
"Of course."
"You know the little red cherry tomato that came with the sandwich?"
"Yeah..."
"Well, it fell on the floor and I picked it up and she ate it. Is that ok?"
Pause... "Um, yeah. There's a lot that happens in those rooms though and the floors get kinda messy sometimes. We clean them, but still, I wouldn't make a habit of eating things that have fallen on the floor."
"Ok."

Now, correct me if I'm wrong, but is that not a conversation you would have with a 4 year old?!

Hmmm......

So my five minute unloading will go like this..... I don't have compaints or things that piss me off. I don't have any lists to share or people to back or embarrassing humans to make fun of. I will abuse the english language and every grammar rule ever made, but in the end you will get the point. Maybe.

I am discovering more and more nowadays that I discover more things about myself and other people the more I get to know them. I think that through my subdued silence and emotional disconnect I have attained a certain expertise in what actual real emotion is. What motivates us all as people. What may follow are simply just questions that you can consider or ponder or throw out your mind just as soon as you read it. I guess I simply don't care if anyone gets it or cares or takes away anything from it, but through some prodding I have been pushed into doing what is the only thing that seems to come completely naturally to me. And no it's not scowling and being an asshole you jerks so stop pushing your buzzer cause Alex is not going to ask for your response.

Why do people LIE? It seems that I get such a response from genuine honesty that it boggles my mind that one would come to think a lie is a better option. People can come up with different reasons as to why they lie, but in the end it is all very simple. Fear. Of any number of things. Mostly of people really knowing who you are as person. When one lies they can misdirect others around them as to who they are and what they stand for. When one stands by the truth they are exposing themself to the onlooking eyes of the masses. Rare is the person that can stand on a stage and say, "JUDGE ME, cause I can take it."

Clarity is striking at times for it can come in the darkness of the late night hours. Clarity can also arise when surrounded by an entire room of family and friends. I can only challenege everyone. The next time you are faced with the option, what will you choose? Cause there is ALWAYS an option. The Truth is always out there, but can you handle the truth?

P.S. I know I ripped off the last sentence. DEAL with it! Peace.

Snipers Wanted

Who is this idiot you may ask? Well, yesterday in a game between the Packers and Bengals, this idoit ran on to the field and took the ball from Brett Favre during the middle of a play. Funny huh? Yeah, not really. One of these days, someone is going to be crazy enough to actually run on to the field and kill a player. Not sure what sport it will be in, but it will happen. It was only a couple of years ago in a MLB game that a dad and son ran on to the field and started to beat up a poor old third base coach. This guy actually got pretty hurt before the rest of the team was able to step in and make the save. So when will it stop? How are we going to prevent a player from being killed on the field by a crazed fan. Simple: snipers at every game. It is quite simple. You let the fans know that there is in fact a sniper at the stadium. You run on to the field and run towards a player, you will be shot down. Think fans will run on to the field anymore? Yeah, probably not. Will anyone run on to field ever again with this knowledge in their back of the head? Not unless they want anything else going through their head...and out the other end. Extreme? Sure. But I don't want to have to watch a player be killed on national tv. Think of it as a preventative measure.

The Five Things That Pissed Me Off Last Week

Here we go again....

#5 - Only got to see SAW II once this week. It is SO good. Maybe better than the original. Go see this movie.

#4 - The lack of comments on my blog. Only relatives have been leaving comments. I KNOW that many of my friends read my blog, many on a daily basis. So either my blog is of no interest to them (but they are reading it) or are just too lazy to write an opinion that will take a few seconds. What gives my homies?!?

#3 - The Kings' season starts tomorrow and they still do not look very good. I sure hope I am proven wrong, but they do not look very good this year. Maybe 45 wins? I don't know...a little scary and it COULD be a long season. Again, I would love to be wrong.

#2 - Not much luck this week in the local real estate market. I am working with a few people in town, but I basically didn't hear from them all week. I hope something works out. Open houses were also really dead this weekend. Not very productive, but I did pick up 2 out of town referrals. Thank you so much Kelly!

#1 - I was told to download something for work - a program we use to fill out contracts on our computer. I did that, but now, not only does it not work, some other programs on my computer do not work. What the hell?!?! Need to call tech support because even the SUPER SAVY computer guy at my office can't figure it out. Weird...

That's it. Don't piss me off this week...

Celeb wonderings....

So, this is Nicole Ritchie to my left. Did I miss the memo that says that it is cool to wear THE BIGGEST sunglasses possible. I mean, those things are hideous. When I was younger, people would get made fun of for having glasses like that. What the hell. And Nicole...eat a few cheeseburgers for me will ya?!?!?

In Touch Magazine - no I don't read this, I got this off the web - has come up with the top ten cleavages in Hollywood. Can you say slow news day? Did someone actually ponder over the pictures? Was there a points system? Did you lose points if they weren't real? How does one go about deciding this let alone even come up with this? Well, since they came up with the list, I shall at least post it:

1. Jessica Simpson2. Salma Hayek3. Carmen Electra4. Angelina Jolie5. Halle Berry6. Jennifer Love Hewitt7. Scarlett Johansson8. Mariah Carey9. Susan Sarandon10. Nicollette Sheridan

Eh.....the only list I want to see Jessica Simpson on is a missing person's list. GO AWAY you dumb bitch!!!! There, I said it.....sorry if I offended you.

SEE...there is a demand for the man!!!

Ok, one sequel, one might wonder why they are doing it. But two sequels, there has to be a demand for the guy. This has been talked about for a while, but it looks like it might happen. Apparently, the script for RAMBO IV is nearing completion and a target date of April is being looked at to start filming. This is great news. I might get a new Rocky AND Rambo movie?!?! Awesome! Apparently, someone out there feels that Stallone is worth spending his money on. Let's hope this works out. I am willing to spend my money on this.

The Hate Continues

Back in January I think (check out the archives to be sure), I wrote an article wondering why people hate Stallone so much. I reviewed some of his best movies and tried to defend my man. Well, the hate has come back as the news that Rocky 6 will be made soon. Evereywhere I go, people are making fun of this guy. Why? Sure, he has made SOME bad movies. Others have been really good and you should go back and read the Stallone post to know which are my favorites. But the news of Rocky 6 has brought nothing but laughter. Give the guy a break. He hasn't had a hit in a while, so why not take a risk on making a sequal to this great series. I know my butt will be in the theater seats when this comes out. Even if the reveiws are bad, I'll go see it. Why? This guy has entertained me. He deserves me giving his movie a good ol' try. Good luck Rocky.

The Five Things That Pissed Me Off Last Week

Yeah, got some good ones this week. Might as well get this started....

5. Drank expired milk. Man it tasted bad. Spit it out, but not after swallowing some. Gave me the heeby jeebies.

4. Found out that even though we have been paying for an alarm system, it was accidently turned off by the phone gy almost a year ago. A year of paying for absolutely nothing. Yeah, money well spent.

3. Had three hours of floor time in the office Saturday and then an open house for three hours right after and talked to ONE person. In six hours. Yeah, time well spent.

Here is where it all goes to hell......

2. In July, when I first started working, I was working with a (former) friend because she wanted to find a first house for her and her boyfriend. I sent them listings and we kept in touch a few weeks. Mid-July, she called me and said that prices were a tad high right now, and they decided to wait a year and just save. I don't know what gave me this hunch, but I did a search of records last week for her name. What do ya know! She bought a house in the beginning of August after going in to escrow in Mid-JULY. Wow! So I guess that what she did is lie to me. I would love to know what happened to make her feel she had to lie to me and not let me know. Man I was furious when I found this out. I emailed her congrats on her house. She was probably shocked I found out. It has been about 5 days since I sent that so I don't expect an email back. Thanks Ms. G.P. Nice knowing ya....

I clearly thought that was going to be #1 without a doubt until.........

#1 This happened just a couple of hours ago, so I will include it in this list since it did happen before the list came out. On Friday, I actually took a guy out to show properties. He loved one. He said, "Let's make this happen." He didn't have a preapproval loan letter yet so we had to wait until Monday (today) morning. It killed me to wait, but we had to. But finally, I was going to write an offer on property. Finally, my work was going to pay off. I would be doing something worthwhile. Yeah right.... He called me today and said he wasn't ready yet. He felt it wasn't a good time after all and we will see in the future. Hopes crushed instantly. No matter how used to disappointment I am getting, this one really hurts. Why does this keep happening?

The vulgarity, part 2

Maybe "vulgarity" is not the right word for it, but it is easier than "I can't believe the what comes out of the mouths of some people."

The other day a lady had a baby, and her mother was in the room with her. After the baby was cleaned up and given back to the mom, the patient's mom says, "You gotta give that baby some titty."

And here I was, this whole time, thinking it was called breastfeeding...

Saturday, October 22, 2005

What did you call me?

Last night I had a patient who delivered naturally, no pain medication except IV, and even that doesn't work so well after a certain point. After all deliveries, we rub on the mom's tummy (fundal massage), feeling for the uterus to make sure it is hard and contracted, ensuring the mom doesn't bleed to death. We have to press fairly hard to express any clots that may be inside, and we have to do this every 15 minutes for an hour after delivery, per hospital protocol. It hurts the vast majority of patients, especially those who aren't numb from an epidural, but it's just something that needs to be done and the average patient copes with it because it lasts all of 5 or 10 seconds..

But not my patient...

I'm rubbing on her tummy and she says the following:

Damn, bitch, that hurts.

Excuse me?!?!

So I say the following to her:

I know it hurts and I'm sorry, but I HAVE to do this because if I don't, you could literally bleed to death in 5 minutes. If you want to do that, it's ok by me, but there is too much paperwork involved and I don't really feel like doing it.

It made her shut up.

Lightning sucks yo!!!

My friend's house in Oklahoma was struck by lightning. When lightning is mad, it sure can cause some destruction. Just check out the pictures of the devastation. I put little yellow arrows in for you in case you can't see the destruction.

It's crazy just seeing drywall blown away like that. Luckily, her and her husband weren't anywhere near these rooms when it happened or who knows what could have occurred. Even worse, the house had only been built about a month when this happened. Yuck!!

SPAM!!!

I am starting to get SPAM in my comments section advertising this and that. Has it come to that? Putting SPAM on people's personal blogs? AHHHHHHH!!!!!

Posting a comment is easy...

OK, I know there are plenty of people who are reading this blog. However, almost NOBODY is leaving comments. There is no registering required. Here is a step by step so that hopefully some people will start posting on here so I know people actually enjoy what is being read here.

1.Read the article

2.At the end of the post, click on the underlined part that says, "0 comments" or "1 comment" or whatever.

3.This will take you to a page where you can type in a box. Type your comment there.

4.Click on the button that says anonymous right under the box.

5.Click on the button that says login and publish and ignore that it says login as you are doing it anonymously.

That's it. You are done. Takes a few seconds and it lets me know this is being read and enjoyed. Of course if you ever want to write a post, you have to ask me how to do that first.

Rich....where are your posts? You did like 2 and then that is it. Holla at us boy!

How am I supposed to help you?!

Toward the end of my shift today, the telephone rings. The clerks are changing shift and I'm not doing anything important, so I answer it. Here is the conversation:
Me: Labor and delivery. This is Jessica.
Caller: Russian?
Me: No, sorry. Do you speak any English?
Caller: No English. Blah blah blah russian russian russian baby blah blah blah.
Me: Is there anybody there who speaks English? I don't understand what you're saying.
Caller: Blah blah blah russian russian russian baby blah blah blah.
Me: Your wife is going to have a baby?
Caller: Baby. Da.
Me: OK, come into the hospital.
Caller: silence
Me: Come into the hospital if your wife is going to have a baby.
Caller: Baby. Da.

It was back and forth like this for, like, 5 minutes. I kept telling him I didn't understand. He obviously didn't understand me. Finally, and I felt terrible about this, but I hung up on him. Of course I told him I was going to hang up on him because I didn't know how to help him, but he didn't understand that either. But really, what else was I supposed to do?

So my question is, why did he bother to call is he didn't speak English? Maybe he was hoping someone there spoke Russian, but when it became obvious nobody did, whouldn't you just give up and come in? Or how about calling a friend who speaks English and have them call us? What on Earth could I have possibly done for this man? It was so weird...

Kevin Martin

The 5 things that Kevin Martin of the Kings seems to have improved on from last season...

1.

My Microwave Damnit!!!

A headline in the paper today caught my eye. At some Walgreens, not in town, two coworkers got in an arguement over who got to use the microwave in the staff lounge to heat their food first. So, like any of us would do, one of the coworkers stabbed the other worker with a knife. Over heating food!!! A KNIFE!!! No, the person didn't die, but charges will of course be filed. Next time you use the work microwave before someone else, be sure to watch your back.

New weekly column - 5 things that pissed me off last week!

Yes, because I am always pissed about something, I am going to start a new weekly column - the 5 things that pissed me off the previous week. Here we go in reverse order...

5. The Kings defense so far through three games. Ok, it is preseason, but it doesn't look like anything is going to change. Either we change it, or we are going to have to rely on outscoring teams.

4. The wife and I finished a puzzle and it was missing a piece! One whole piece!! All that work on a 1500 piece puzzle for that? DAMNIT!!

3. We got a second dog and to go get him, we had to drive all these winding roads. On the way back, I didn't want to make the little guy fly all over the car so I drove a little slower. One guy was driving behind me, but not on my butt ny any means so I figured I was ok. However, when we made the turnoff we needed to, the ass honked at me. AT ME!!! Sorry that I wasn't driving crazy down a curvy dirt road. Jackass....

2. Last Monday's weekly new agent beating(meeting). Not a very positive occassion.

1. A lead that I felt really good about fell through. I believe I already typed about this. I had been talking to this guy about helping him sell his house and maybe 1 of his 3 duplexes. He told me this week that he decided to refinance instead. ERRRRRR. I do have some more solid leads that I picked up this weekend so wish me luck there because I am all pissed off.

Want to share what pisses you off. Join the site!! Just ask me how and you too can vent.

Domino

We got tickets to see the premiere of Domino Thursday night. The movie started at 730 and the ticket said to get there early, as admission is not guaranteed because they overbook to ensure a full house. We got there about 615, stood in line for 30 minutes and were let into the theater about 645. Ok, here's where I spout off about the beefs I have...

1) First, the movie. It was good. Very much a film Manuel and I would see. Lots of action, shot in a different style, guns, sex, drugs, good story. Ian Ziering and Brian Austin Green from 90210 do a good job and are very funny. The Jerry Springer scene is hysterical. We liked it. I'm not sure how the Bee movie reviewer lady gave it 1 star. I was wondering if we were watching the same movie...

2) Now, I don't bat for this team, but my god Keira Knightly was hot. And just so you don't think I'm switching sides, Edgar Ramirez, the guy who plays Choco, HOT HOT HOT! Smokin'! Whew...

3) It pisses me off that the lady sitting next to Manuel complained the whole time about everything. She was pissed off because she was one of the last people to be seated and complained about her seat (which wasn't so bad because she was sitting next to us and we sat where we sat voluntarily). She complained that the theater wasn't big enough, that they should have shown the movie in a bigger theater to fit more people. She talked on her cell phone to a friend of hers who didn't make it in and told her to ask if she could exchange the premiere ticket for tickets to see the movie the next day, and was surprised when her friend called back to tell her they wouldn't do it.
Here's why this lady is a stupid whore (a little harsh, admitted, but I love calling people stupid whores when it's deserved). The ticket to the premiere explicitly says to get there early because seating is not guaranteed. What don't you understand about that? You have nobody to blame but yourself that you didn't like your seat - you should have got there earlier and you would have had your pick of the theater. It just amazes me the gall of people - you're getting something for free and you complain about it?!

Kings are back in action

Ehhh.....

Not really sure what to say about the Kings chances this year. They have played 2 preseason games so far and I am not that impressed. I think it is just hard for me to get myself out of the mindset of them being championship contenders. That is in the past now, but it is hard to break the idea of them as a top notch team. Now don't get me wrong, they do have some talent. From one through eight, they have a very solid lineup. If the starting five starts to click and Shareef and Bonzi play up to expectation, who knows how far they can go. But that is the best case scenario. The key word is "IF" they click. There is no saying they will and that is what scares me. Still, if they click offensively, the defense STILL sucks. That is very evident after just two preseason games. It will be an interesting season. I would love to come back and read this in June and say to myself, "I never should have doubted them." I would love to be wrong. But we'll see.

Through two games, I HATE our draft pick Francisco Garcia. He's horrible. Ok, he scored 13 points last night, but he just doesn't seem to fit. He's a gunner, pure and simple so far and doesn't play in to the offense at all. He forces way too many shots that he shouldn't even begin to think of taking. Hey Fransisco, you are NOT the world's best three point specialist. Give it up man. Again, I would love to be proved wrong, but man does he rub me the wrong way so far.

The new Gold Kings Jerseys stink. They suck ass! They look like (insert the ugliest thing you have ever seen here. ) How they are going to last the 14 games with them on before the fans start rioting is beyond me. I say burn them all and try something new. Anything......please!!!

FAILURE!!!

It happened again today! I had another lead I felt postive about and now it is kicked to the curb. A couple of weeks ago, I met a guy while I was out walking my farm area. He said he was looking to sell and wanted some information. He also said the next week I talked to him that he might also sell one of his THREE DUPLEXES. He asked for some information on property he might want to buy and I provided it to him. Today I went back just to check in and see if he had decided anything. Well, he decided something alright. He decided to just stay in the house and refinance it! WHAT?!?! After all the lines you gave me for three weeks about selling and you pull the rug out like that. Now, I know that is his perogative, but it just seems like once again, something fell through for me AGAIN!. When is one of these damn leads going to pan out? ARRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRHHHHHHHH!!!!

In other news, you have to check out this video clip of an acappella group. HILARIOUS!!!!

I'm a loser

Yes, again it has been a while since I have posted. I am as good with posting here as I am with returning emails, but I am trying to get better with both. Lot to catch up on again!

Still doing the real estate thing. I LOVE my job! Unfortunately, I am about as successful right now as I was last time I posted. I had my referral close escrow which was nice. It wasn't a huge check, but at least it was some money. I currently have a second referral out there right now so hopefully that will work out too as well. However, as far as things go here in town with sales, not much is happening. I have a few things here and there, but nothing immediate. I am in talks with 2 or 3 people who are interested in buying, and I have 1 person that I am actually working on to list his house with. That might be exciting because he also owns 3 duplexes and might sell more than just his house. Wait a second, I also have one more seller I am keeping my fingers crossed on. However, they aren't selling till Spring so it will be awhile. What pisses me off is that me and the other new agents are really starting to feel the pressure from our Career Development Manager. Her and the manager keep saying you have to do this, this, and this, and for the huge part, we ARE doing all of the things they say. I know I am at least. I am doing Open Houses, calling people in my Sphere of Influence, walking my Farm Area and meeting people. Unfortunately, things are just not panning out. I have had great leads that have just unfortunately gone away. For example, I did an open house and had a guy who was REALLY interested. It wasn't going to work out, but I talked with the selling agent a bit so that he could get what he wanted. He wanted to look at it one more time before he decided. Unfortunately, before he could do that, he happened upon a condo he liked better. He bought it on the spot. If he hadn't seen it, he probably would have bought the house from me, I'd have money, and I bet work would be off my back despite the fact it is only ONE sale. But what can I do? If just a quarter of the things I have come across would have panned out, they would be kissing my feet. Unfortunately, things have been unlucky. I am not trying to do a woe is me thing, but this luck of dead deals has to end eventually. I am very frustrated, but trying to stay positive.

Still playing poker of course. Love every second of it. Still in first place in my biweekly tournaments which is good because I think it is good competition. All of the points are being totaled for an end of the year tourney. It has added some extra fun to the games.

Other than that, not much is going on. We are getting a new dog on Sunday which is exciting. His name will be Orko, and we HOPE that Leia will not get too jealous. I'll keep you updated. If you'r reading this, go ahead and leave a comment so I know I didn't just write all this for not.

Peace......

If I have any typos, screw it, this is too long to go back and edit!

The vulgarity!

When a woman is about to have a baby, I'm told it feels like she has to take the biggest poop of her life. That being said, that's what I tell my patients to look for, so we know when it's time to start pushing. Now, it could be in the way I was raised, or maybe it's that I have a little more couth than my average patient, but I cannot tell you the number of times a patient has said to me, "I have to shit." Umm, ok. I think I personally would have used a different word under the circumstances, but ok, I get your point. The other day my patient said, "My ass hurts." I'm thinking she's sore from being in bed too long, so I say that. She says, "No, it hurts where you shit from." Ok, again, I get what you're telling me, but is it too much to expect people to be a little less graphic? I mean, by no means am I a prude with language - I can drop f-bombs with the best of them - but in a medical setting, I would just think people would be a little less graphic. It makes me laugh...

Are my standards too high?

The scenario I'm about to relate happens quite frequently at work, and it shocks/stuns/amazes the hell out of me each time it happens.

When a woman comes in to be checked, we put her information into the computer so everything can be archived on the hard drive. Part of that information is her name, obviously. I'll take a patient into the room, have her go into the bathroom to change, and while she's doing that, I ask her support person, usually the father of the baby, all of the information I need. Quite frequently, when I ask him how to spell her last name, he'll say, "I don't know." You don't know? You're having a child with this woman and you don't know how to spell her last name?! I realize that it's not necessary to know a person THAT well to do what it takes to make a baby, but really, over the course of the 9 months it's growing inside her body, don't you think that might be an important thing to learn? And the first baby, sure, same thing. But the third?! You have 3 kids with this woman and you STILL don't know how to spell her last name?!

So again I ask, is that too much to expect? Are my standards too high?

ASSHOLE!!!!!

There is a doctor at work who NOBODY likes because it seems he goes out of his way to treat the nurses like crap. I had a run-in with him when I first started that scarred me for a long time when it came to prepping the abdomen before a cesarean section. I've since gotten over it, but that is neither here nor there because this story is not about me. This story is about something that happened at work tonight involving this doctor that absolutely appalled me...

Now, I realize that in telling this story there may be some terminology that some of you may not know, but it is necessary in getting the point across, so I will do my best to explain anything that may not be clear...

A nurse at work, let's call her C, comes in EARLY because day shift is swamped and they need help. She gets this patient who is a Russian having her 3rd baby. Now, normally race is unimportant in any story, but when it comes to having babies, it is important to point out that Russians, as so eloquently put by Larry the Cable Guy, "get 'er done." They don't fool around - they come in and pop those kids out, and the more they've had, the faster it goes. No joke. So the asshole doctor, let's call him K, gives C orders to start Pitocin, a drug that makes contractions come faster and stronger. ASSHOLE POINT #1: This patient was in good labor on her own. K wanted to go home so he ordered the Pitocin so the baby would come faster and he could go home sooner.

So C starts the Pitocin and increases it by 2 every 20 minutes, just like K ordered. (Nursing background: When docs order Pitocin, they order it to be increased by 2 every 20 to 30 minutes. We ALWAYS increase it every 30 minutes just because it is nicer on the charting.) At one point in the night, C goes to tell K something, what it was is irrelevant, and K cuts her off to ask what the Pitocin is at. She tells him and he pauses to figure out if the level she told him was right with increasing it by 2 every 20 minutes, given the time it was started. ASSHOLE POINT #2: You are checking up on the nurse?! If you don't trust her to carry out your orders and provide good care to your patient, do it your damn self!

So things are progressing with the patient and she is getting increasingly uncomfortable. The IV medicine has not helped and the patient is requesting an epidural. C checks the patient and she is 7cm (Nursing background: Babies come at 10cm. Also, remember how I said Russians "get 'er done"? Well, after 7cm, by the time you have to do everything you have to do to get the epidural, it's not worth it because they'll probably be 10cm and just push the baby out anyway.) But C, being the patient advocate that nurses are, starts doing everything that has to be done before you can have an epidural, which, by the way, was written in the orders that the patient could have. When everything is ready, C checks the patient again and she is 8 to 9 cm. C calls the anesthesiologist to tell him everything is ready, and after him giving her some grief (She'll have the baby soon, why bother? This REALLY pisses me off because you know that if it were him laying there having the baby, the fool would want pain relief regardless of dilation. By him saying that, he's essentially saying that it's not worth his time and to let the patient suffer, which deserves an asshole point as well, but we're focusing on K's, not his.) So he comes to the room and is doing the epidural when K walks in. K says - and I was in the room so all of this is first hand - "What's going on here?" "She's getting an epidural." "What's she dilated to?" "8 to 9." "Stop. Stop the epidural. She's going to deliver soon. She doesn't need it." The anesthesiologist looks at K and says, "You want me to stop?" "Yes." At this point the patient is in tears and is begging, literally begging, for the epidural. The look of horror on her face was the most gut-wrenching thing I have ever seen, to be so close to pain relief, only to have it taken away. I felt for her right then, I really did, which brings me to ASSHOLE POINT #3: That's WRONG. It would have taken 2 more minutes for the epidural to be placed. The patient would have been comfortable, even if it was for only 30 minutes before the baby came. That's still 30 minutes she's not in pain. But because he's an asshole, he didn't let her have the epidural because it might have prolonged the baby coming (she wouldn't have had the urge to push) and he wanted to get home as soon as possible.

After the epidural is stopped, K asks what the Pitocin is at. C says 12. K gets all angry, saying, "Why is it only at 12? An hour and a half ago it was at 10. It should be higher than 12." (Nursing background: Pitocin is pretty powerful stuff. You turn it up until contractions are adequate - they feel firm to the touch and are every 2 minutes. If you keep turning it up, it makes the contractions come too close together, not giving the uterus time to rest between, and there is a risk of rupturing the uterus. That is a MAJOR emergency. So you stop turning it up when you reach adequate labor, you DO NOT keep going.) ASSHOLE POINT #4: You are a freaking doctor, you know everything I just said. The number on the Pitocin does not equal adequate labor. The patient is 8 to 9 cm, obviously it is doing a good job at the level it's at. You DO NOT risk rupturing a uterus because you want to go home.

So K leaves the patient's room and goes to the nursing area and is ranting and raving and carrying on about how C should have known better and this and that and the nurse in charge (Darn, her name starts with a K too, so let's call her CN for charge nurse, who, mind you, was in the room also during the whole epidural thing), tells him to leave it alone, to which he tells her that she is supposed to have control of the until and is not doing a good job, to which she says that she cannot be in every patient room and that C is a good nurse and did nothing wrong. ASSHOLE POINT #5: You don't yell at the charge nurse because you are mean and impatient and want to go home. CN is a great charge nurse and she absolutely had control of the unit and indeed C did nothing wrong - the epidural was ordered and nowhere on the orders did it say the patient could not have an epidural past x centimeters. You don't yell at people because things are not going your way.

So the patient doesn't get the epidural, and she is crying and screaming with every contraction. Her husband is pissed, and rightfully so. Her sister is walking the halls crying because her sister is in tremendous pain. K says to the patient, after he makes them stop the epidural, "the baby will be here in 30 minutes at the most." Well, an hour later, still no baby, even after pushing for 45 minutes. The patient is in so much pain, she is out of control and cannot push. The patient is screaming, "Christ, please help me." You know what happens? They do a cesarean section. ASSHOLE POINT #6: If you had let the patient have the epidural, granted, it may have prolonged the labor a little, but she would have had adequate pain relief and been in control enough to push the baby out, but no, you had to get home as soon as possible and you made a decision that cost the patient major surgery and a much longer, more painful and difficult recovery. Good job.

A long story, I know, and if you have made it this far, I thank you. And if you or anybody you know in the Sacramento area is pregnant, drop me a line. I'll tell you K's name so you don't have to be subject to his abuse.

Finally an update

I know it has been a while since I have posted and a couple of people(well, the only who read it) have asked why. No excuse other than just lazy really. So here is what is going on:

I am now almost 5 weeks into my new job as a Realtor. The last few weeks of school went smoothly. I am going to miss certain aspects of teaching, but I am glad I am out. So now I am in my new job. I want to say I love every minute of it. In fact, this is a GREAT job. And truthfully, after 5 weeks, I don't know how much I should expect. The fact of the matter is, despite me loving this job, I am VERY frustrated. Lead after lead just seem to not be working out. Here is an update of how my leads for work have gone...

1st lead - got this one before I became a realtor. A lady at school said she wanted to find some property in Wilton and asked for help. I said I would help her once school was out and I was legal to practice. I have now called her three times and not gotten one call back. No returned calls....

2nd lead - also got this before school was out. A friend from the credential program said she and her bf were ready to start looking. She was VERY excited. After 2 weeks of me sending her stuff, she told me she decided to wait and just save money until later. Damnit...

3rd lead - A student's parents asked for my card because they wanted to move this summer. My fault that I didn't get THEIR number...but still, haven't heard from them.

4th lead - A good friend of mine told me her cousin was moving and she would refer them to me. Unfortunately, they had a realtor already that she didn't know about. Bummer....

5th lead - My cousin wants to look for something, but they are not really sure if they can afford anything so that has really come to a standstill after sending them things for a couple of weeks

6th lead - I did an open house and a woman seemed realy interested in working with me. I got all of her information, and sent her stuff she wanted. No luck though. Possible dead lead but still on hold...

7th and most recent lead- A friend said he was ready to start looking to see what was available. I sent him some listings and even showed him my next door neighbors house for sale(more on that later). He liked it but wasn't quite ready to make an offer. That's fine. It was only the first house. Unfortunately, he told me today that he needs his parents to co-sign for him to get a loan and if they are to do that, they want to use their own realtor. I was most excited about this lead because I thought it was pretty solid. Might not happen right away, but solid. Now that one is about as dead as can be.

So, that is where I stand. I am doing all I can. People at work are telling me I am doing a good job and keep it up. But absolutely nothing is coming from this "good work" of mine. I am VERY upset. I know it is only 5 weeks, but that is SEVEN lead that has gone away. Just depressed...

Coming back to my neighbor, he is moving now. He is about THE best neighbor one could hope for. I am not his realtor because he has family in the business so that's ok. I just can't believe he is leaving. To top it off, he is selling to a Russian family that I believe has like 10 kids and cars up the ying yang. I am not a prejudiced person by any means, but that is not my choice for a neighbor. SHIT! Everthing is going to hell right now!!

So now a poker update. You would expect more bad news right? No, I am actually winning right now. 2 weeks ago, we had 9 for poker night and I won. $140 for first place. Last weekend I was at a birthday and played with three others and won $80 there. The last 4 poker nights at my house, we have kept track of points depending on how you finish. After 4 rounds, I am actually in first place! Can you believe that?!?! Poker night is again this weekend so we will see if I can keep it up.

Saturday night is also the 1st annual Foothill High School alumni soccer game. I am jazzed about playing in that. It is going to be a tough game, but I am REALLY looking forward to it. I get a jersey, my name announced and everything. Plus, my business card is on the game program. Like that will do any good.....

E..........C..........FN..........W

For the tiny number of people who read this little humble posting forum I will simply ask you to give this a second of thought and perhaps even open your mind to a totally different kind of entertainment. This Sunday, June 12th 2005 is a thank you to all the fans of a little known company that went by the call letters E-C-W!!! If you have 3 hours to kill and 35 dollars to waste then I suggest finding a way to order this PPV event and finding out why people either LOVE or HATE professional wrestling. This will be adult entertainment. It will be funny, exciting, surprising, real, honest and to the extreme. You will hopefully see what it means to have a group of people believe with their heart and soul in a lifestyle and have it put on record as a forum for all to see throughout history. I am pimping this show because I came in late in the game and only got a little taste of the REAL professional wrestling show that not enough people know about. I am a fan of a lot of things in life. I am only a Fanatic about E........C........FN.........W
Watch it people! Go all in and take a risk. Risk is GOOD! Zerocool is OUT.

Maybe I should quit...

Another bad loss at poker last night. No, I didn't play bad, I just got screwed again. Now listen, most might think, ok, if you keep losing, perhaps it is that you are a bad poker player and not just unlucky. Maybe you just suck. The thing is, that is not the case. The thing is, I keep losing hands OVER AND OVER AGAIN that I am favored to win. Percentages say that I should be winning these hands that I play. I keep losing hands where the person I am up against is the CLEAR underdog. Sometimes a slight undersog, sometimes a huge underdog. Percentages say that over time, you should win more than yo ulose if you keep playing these cards where you are the favorite. I am playing the cards I SHOULD be playing.

So this is how it went last night: We are down to 4 people left and I have the second most chips. Rich goes all in and I have an Ace-Ten unsuited. Good enough to call someone's all in. What does he flip over? A SEVEN-EIGHT SUITED! Ok, even though these are suited connectors, I am still about a 61% to 39% favorite. Who wouldn't want those kind of odds. I figure I am going to take him out and move closer to the chip leader. Nope..a seven is the only thing that comes out that helps either of us and my huge stack is chopped down. Next hand, Duncan goes all in, I had a huge stack before the last hand so I have enough to call if I want to. I look at my cards and I have a King-Jack. Yup, that is probably good enough and I call. He flips over FIVE-SEVEN UNSUITED! HUH? You go all in with that? His justification is that sevens were lucky that night. Ok, I am a 65% to 35% favorite. At least I can get back most of what I lost the last hand. Or so I though. Again, the seven is the only thing that helps either one of us and I am cut down to almost nothing. I go out a couple of hands later on a meaningless hand.

So this is what keeps happening to me. I am playing hands I SHOULD My opponents are constantly underdogs to my superior hands and yet they KEEP ON WINNING. Why? Should I just play crappy hands? Just bet now whatever I have. You can't tell me that you can just play a crappy hand just because you felt that a card had been LUCKY that night! You are supposed to play hands where you are a favorite and that is what I am doing. I play the good hands. Hell, until those two hands, I was playing great poker and building up a good chip stack. But all it takes is two bad beats and I am done for.

So, should I quit? I know what I should be playing and it is not working. Dare I say I am cursed? I am not a sore loser. When I flip over my cards, I can see that I am a favorite and so does my opponent. But yet, things just aren't going my way. I play the odds and the odds aren't working. All I know is that I am pissed and confused...

Happy Birthday To Me Damnit!

I deserve a happy birthday today. Especially after an embaressing last place finish at a friend's poker tournament last night. Granted, I had THE worst cards I think I have EVER seen, but I played pretty dumb and impatiently after things did not get better. Just tragic. So, I deserve a good birthday today.

Damnit....

Let the Debate begin...

Just finished watching Hoosiers for the first time in my life. Yeah, I know. A huge basketball AND movie fan like myself has not seen Hoosiers? Sometimes, you just never get around to seeing some movies. I have always wanted to see it because many consider it to be the greatest sports film of all time. So of course, I went in expecting a great movie. It wasn't bad. But it wasn't what I expected. Of course, I knew how it ended before I saw it, but that shouldn't take anything away from it. Take the movie "Miracle" for example. I knew how that was going to end. The story is legend. However, after that movie, I felt so moved and inspired. It touched me. I might have even had to hold back tears. I didn't get that with Hoosiers. I wanted to reach that level, but it didn't even come close. Like I said, many consider Hoosiers THE quintessential sports movie. I would have to disagree. I would have to place Miracle above it. It just took me to an emotional level that Hoosiers was not able to attain. So, comments are asked for, what is better Hoosiers or Miracle?

Star Wars Episode III: The One That Gives You Chills

What a friggin' marvelous movie! Lucas sure got it right with this one. After disappointing many with Attack of the Clones, Lucas came right back and delivered a movie that may be the best of the series. Well, it was probably not a better movie overall than A New Hope and Empire Strikes Back, but it is not too far behind. For emotional value and gut wrenching emotion though, this one might have then topped. The last 30 minutes or so are just so emotional and really bring out the little boy in me who loved the original three. The transition between the end of this movie and A New Hope is seamless. I don't want to give too much away for those who haven't seen it. Just go see this movie! NOW!!!

Victory is so sweet....

I passed my test. After what seems like forever, after putting in an endless amount of hours pouring over real estate law, and after worrying myself to the point that I think I have created an ulcer, I have passed my test to become a real estate agent. I have passed a test that I believe only 60% pass on the first try. I have passed the test that will lead me away from a job that I despise to a career that I feel in my heart I will love. I have done it and the reward for passing it feels sweet. Thank you to everyone who encouraged me and had faith. The feeling is just damn overwhelming...

Version 1.0

What would you die for? Better yet, what would you kill for? Emotions have a way of making people act a certain way, but it is the most powerful of them all that makes us do things that once were impossible. LOVE. It can blind a man into sacrificing his own morale fiber to gain knowledge of how to extend this love that he has in his heart. It can bring tears of joy and sadness simultaneously to two seperate people who are miles apart. It can narrow the focus of a person to the point of validating the belief in the oft used cliche "means to an end". Love is the most powerful of all the emotions in that it can morph itself into any other emotion and magnify it's intensity to the point that one forgets that love was what started it all in the first place.

It brings the question again. What would you die for? What would you kill for? Love has always been and will continue to be something that can never be kept a secret. In order to keep something hidden from the outside world one must have a cold, calculating heart that allows no emotion to betray his sole purpose of staying hidden. That kinda natural-never-felt-it-before-but-don't-doubt-it-at-all love makes you the kinda person that could never hide at all. And why would anyone want to hide that kida feeling? Especially if this love has been the cause of so many changes and the one reason you are the person you are today.

I know turn back into the regular me. My name is Rich Bauer. I will misspell and abuse the english language all the time and just kinda hope you all get what I mean. Hope you come back again soon. Cause it doesn't all have to be about complaints and grievances. By the way, if you are curious about the first two paragraphs then I simply say this......GO SEE Star Wars episode 3. It's a love story. And that was my 2 paragraph take on it. Or was it.........

Let's Kick It...

Yo, vip, let’s kick it!
Ice ice baby, ice ice baby
All right stop, collaborate and listen
Ice is back with my brand new invention
Something grabs a hold of me tightly
Then I flow like a harpoon daily and nightly
Will it ever stop?
yo -- I don’t know
Turn off the lights and I’ll glow
To the extreme I rock a mic like a vandal
Light up a stage and wax a chump like a candle.
Dance, bum rush the speaker that booms
I’m killing your brain like a poisonous mushroom
Deadly, when I play a dope melody
Anything less than the best is a felony
Love it or leave it, you better gain way
You better hit bull’s eye, the kid don’t play
If there was a problem, yo, I’ll solve it
Check out the hook while my dj revolves it
Ice ice baby vanilla, ice ice baby vanilla
Ice ice baby vanilla, ice ice baby vanilla
Now that the party is jumping
With the bass kicked in, the vegas are pumpin’
Quick to the point, to the point no faking
I’m cooking mcs like a pound of bacon
Burning them if they’re not quick and nimble
I go crazy when I hear a cymbal
And a hi hat with a souped up tempo
I’m on a roll and it’s time to go solo
Rollin’ in my 5.0
With my ragtop down so my hair can blow
The girlies on standby, waving just to say hi
Did you stop? no -- I just drove by
Kept on pursuing to the next stop
I busted a left and I’m heading to the next block
That block was dead
Yo -- so I continued to a1a beachfront ave.
Girls were hot wearing less than bikinis
Rockman lovers driving lamborghinis
Jealous ’cause I’m out geting mine
Shay with a gauge and vanilla with a nine
Reading for the chumps on the wall
The chumps acting ill because they’re so full of eight balls
Gunshots ranged out like a bell
I grabbed my nine -- all I heard were shells
Falling on the concrete real fast
Jumped in my car, slammed on the gas
Bumper to bumper the avenue’s packed
I’m trying to get away before the jackers jack
Police on the scene, you know what I mean
They passed me up, confronted all the dope fiends
If there was a problem, yo, I’ll solve it
Check out the hook while my dj revolves it
Ice ice baby vanilla, ice ice baby vanilla
Ice ice baby vanilla, ice ice baby vanilla
Take heed, ’cause I’m a lyrical poet
Miami’s on the scene just in case you didn’t know it
My town, that created all the bass sound
Enough to shake and kick holes in the ground
’cause my style’s like a chemical spill
Feasible rhymes that you can vision and feel
Conducted and formed, this is a hell of a concept
We make it hype and you want to step with this
Shay plays on the fade, slice like a ninja
Cut like a razor blade so fast, other djs say, damn
If my rhyme was a drug, I’d sell it by the gram
Keep my composure when it’s time to get loose
Magnetized by the mic while I kick my juice
If there was a problem, yo -- I’ll solve it!
Check out the hook while deshay revolves it
Ice ice baby vanilla, ice ice baby vanilla
Ice ice baby vanilla, ice ice baby vanilla
Yo man -- let’s get out of here! word to your mother!
Ice ice baby too cold, ice ice baby too cold too cold
Ice ice baby too cold too cold, ice ice baby too cold too cold...

Hodgepodge

So much to say...

My arch nemeis struck again on Saturday night. Duncan beat me in a hand where I was a clear favorite. If I win the hand and he doesn't get lucky, I win poker night. However, once again, he outdrew me, and a few hands later, I am relegated to 2nd place. I was at a loss for words. Even he admitted it was lucky. As a matter of fact, he was lucky to even be in that position - he got lucky other times in the game against different people. That guy just must be on the right side of the poker gods. Not sure what to say...

Kings suck. Yup, that pretty much covers that...

You know what I think I am going to miss the most about teaching? The answers I sometimes get from students. I tell ya, just reading what they put down sometimes is enough to make my day. From my very first day of teaching, these kids started to crack me up. I remember on my first day of teaching, I gave my students a spelling pretest just to see what they knew. The word was something like "crack." The student who gave me a chuckle was the one who wrote "ckrkak." HUH? I knew from day one, not all students are created equal. I know it is bad to laugh because it is really sad, but hey, you have to find the humor in it. Well, today I got an answer that I know is going to be the best of my three years of teaching. The students had fill in the blank sentences with their spelling words. The question was, "The millionaire worked hard to earn his _____." The correct answer was wealth. Put it in the sentences and read it. But no, the student's answer was this instead: "The millionaire worked hard to earn his women." I almost pissed my pants. I mean, I guess it could work in that sentence. Can't say that it hasn't happened. But still, what a friggin' answer, and from a 4th grader no less. What do they know about working for women? Classic.

There is another irate strory about the law coming up, but that will be next time. I think I went the whole blog without swearing. Good for me.

That's the last time I try to be nice...

My mom and I are driving home from some running around we were doing today. I'm stopped at a red light, and there's a guy wanting to come into traffic from the gas station. Since I'm stopped, I figure I'll let him in when the light changes. So the light changes and the cars in front of me go, leaving a space for this guy to pull in. I wait, but he doesn't go because he's not paying attention. I give up on him, thinking that it's his loss for spacing out. So as I go to go, he starts to go too. I have to hit my brakes so we don't crash, and I let him in. Do you think he thanked me? Nope, and I gave him plenty of time before I got agitated at him and flipped him off Friends style.

So we're driving down the street and there's a bus stopped at the bus stop in the right lane. We have to stop because traffic is coming too fast in the other lanes to pull over. Finally there's a break and I go, but again I have to hit the breaks because of this guy. It wasn't like we both went to change lanes at the same time - I was already changing lanes and moving forward when he decides to change lanes, essentially cutting me off. I'm already pissed at him for not thanking me for letting him in, so I honk. He throws up his hands. I throw up my hands. He throws his hands back up, and I do the same, mocking him now. So it goes, hands for hands until my mom and I are laughing and we change lanes and pass him.

But the point is, I try to be nice to someone, and look what happens. Kindness is not rewarded. I think I'm going to start being more selfish and self-centered like everyone else, that way I won't have to have my kind gestures shat upon like today.

Speechless...

The Kings are bad. Have been pretty much since Geoff Petrie started dicking around with the roster this year. I don't care what you Webber haters say, this team SUCKS without him. We look lost and I thoroughly place the blame on Petrie. You have given us a mediocore to average team that backed in to the playoffs. There were moments of good play, but overall, since Webb left, we suck. We would never be first round losers if we had kept the roster intact. Now we are going to most likely be eliminated in the first round and it is only going to get worse from here. FUCK YOU Geoff Petrie! I hope you are happy with the shithole of a team you have created.

Burn in hell lady!

Image hosted by Photobucket.comOk, that may be a little extreme. I am talking about the Wendy's finger-in-the-chili lady. A little background in case you don't know what I am talking about and have been living under a rock. This lady, Anna Ayala, claims she was eating a cup of chili at Wendy's when she discovered there was a detached finger in her chili; well, actually, now it was in her mouth. So she claims she barfed and then filed a suit against the chain. At first, my initial reaction was, of course, disgust. Then, I started to have doubts about the validity of her statement. A couple of days later, new information about this lady surfaced. It turns out, this wasn't the first company she had sued. Right away, my spidey sense kicked in and told me this lady's story was bogus. Next, we find out that the lady dropped the suit and cited "stress" as the reason. No, she just knew they were on to her and she wanted to get out of the limelight as quickly as possible. Too late though. Authorities opened an investigation on her which concluded with her arrest this past Thursday night. Now she is being changed with making this all up, PLUS, we find out she was also involved in a real estate scam. This lady is trash and deserves everything coming to her. My problem is that this was just another frivolous lawsuit that seems to pop up all the time now in our country. I am tired of them. It makes me wonder how many of these past lawsuits have also been scams. Well, at least they are going to get this lady. Hopefully, she will get more than just probation to set an example to others. Anna Ayala, you deserve eveything coming to you. If you want to read more bout it... http://www.cnn.com/2005/LAW/04/22/Wendys.hoax/index.html

So I have been really bad about posting on my blog lately. Mainly because I have been to busy with studying for my real estate exam. I spend almost all of my free time doing that. Plus, almost no one reads this blog anyway. It's depressing. I have tried mentioning it to my friends, but not much luck there. Not even my family reads it. About the only people who comment on it are the Cheeseman, Kelly, and my wife. Please, read my damn blog. Which reminds me, someone keeps reading my site that has an ISP of Telocity. Who are you mystery reader? Post and let me know. A friend of mine? Who? Ok, I guess I better get back to the studying. May 19th is fast approaching...

On the way out....

No, I am not dying. Although, you might have thought I died by how long it has taken me to post again. Oh yeah, no one is reading this site again. It seems to go through cycles. For a while, all my friends seem to be reading this site, then no one is. I am in a "no one is" pattern right now. Oh well...

So, as those of you who read this know, I hate my job. Well, I am not going to have to hate it much longer. Why? I put in my notice that I am done at the end of the year. I am going to go after that real estate career that I so greatly desire. Now, I put in that I would take a year leave of absense in case I suck at the job. But really, if all goes well, my teaching career will come to a close in 10 more weeks. It's weird. I wanted to be a teacher as far back as I can remember. I figured that my love of kids would be enough to keep me happy. Unfortunately, liking kids is just not enough to like this job. The funny thing is, I am good at what I do. Most of the kids seem to really like me. My state test scores have been near the top in the district. But I do not feel rewarded by that. I think the main thing I don't have is the patience. As much as one likes kids, being put in a situation where you have 30 students creates so many variables. The thought that many prospective teachers have of coming in and changing the world is just so difficult. There are too many factors that make it almost impossible. I remember something a fellow teacher told me my first year, "Your first year, you think you can chage the world. Your second year, you say you will just try to focus on changing a few kids. By your third year, you will say let me at least try to change one kid." And that is how it is. No matter how hard I work, there are so many external factors that prevent me from being successful in my profession.

Example: I have a student who consistently gets in trouble every day and has not turned in homework in a month. The problem is, he doesn't care if I punish him. Why? Because his parents don't care. I have called many times and they just give me the same BS over and over. Look, your kid is failing, he will probably repeat 4th grade, and he is always in trouble at school. Why aren't you doing something to help in this matter? Do you not care if your child fails? The principal has even called a few times to have them come in to talk. He has left messages of the situation and they are not even calling back. Way to take an interest in your child's future! I have tried having heart to heart talks witht his student to try to lay out what choices like this can do to his future. These are the kind of talks that all beginning teachers think they are going to swoop in with and change a direction that a student is going in. It's not that easy. He doesn't care about these talks. If his parents don't care, what reason does he have to care? I don't have patience for this. This is just one of the many reasons why I want out.

So I am going to try my hat at real estate. I love dthe process when we bought our house in September. I've been working at it about a month and have passed by 3 unti beginning class and test. Now comes the big test. I'm scared, but I know I just need to study hard. Think good thoughts on May 19th. If all goes well, my teaching career will be over 69 days from now...

Some cool links

On the right hand side here, I started a links section of cool links. The first two are two of my favorites. One contains highly offensive t-shirts, so don't go there if you don't have a sense of humor. The second is a great website where you can play online almost EVERY NES game that was made. It rocks. Mario and Zelda are gone at the moment because of copyright issues, but trust me, there is plenty off nostalgia to keep one occupied there. Check them both out.

Oh, and in case you were wondering, my arch enemy knocked me out again Saturday night. Read the last post to know what I am talking about.

I am a terrible person...

It is nearly 9am as I write this, after having worked my third 12-hour night shift in a row. I don't know why I want to confess this - perhaps it is because I am deliriously tired. Or maybe it is because I genuinely feel bad for what I did...

The following is a conversation exchanged between Manuel and I the other day:

M: I have news! Guess who's pregnant?
J: Ummm... Who?
M: Somebody we play poker with.
J: Chad and Cindy?
M: Yes! She said she is 8 weeks.
J: *Silence*

Do you know why I was silent? I was silent because I was raging a battle with the green-eyed monster and losing miserably. I was so overcome by jealousy that I was physically/mentally unable to be happy for them. And I feel TERRIBLE for it. I felt terrible even as I was fighting the battle, knowing my first reaction should have been happiness for them, but being unable to look past my own feelings of desperately wanting a baby more than anything in the world.

Does that make me a terribe, horrible, rotten person? I really feel like it does. What kind of person is so self-absorbed that she focuses on her own feelings before those of her friends, who are experiencing one of the happiest times in their lives? I'm pathetic...

So Chad and Cindy, because I know you read this on occasion, I am truly so very very happy for you both and wish you a happy and healthy pregnancy. If you ever have any questions about labor and delivery, I'm your woman to ask, seeing as how that's what I do 12 hours a night... I apologize for my initial reaction, and although I know you never would have known if I didn't say anything about it, I really do feel bad.

Ah... a clean conscience. Now I can sleep.

Arch Enemies

Everybody has an arch enemy; that foe that they always seem to come up against. The Fantastic Four had Dr. Doom, the X-Men had Magneto, the Kings had the Lakers for a while, and Daniel Larusso had Johnny. I apparently have Duncan. Now, this isn't a hated enemy. Quite the opposite. He is a great friend. But that guy seems to have my number in poker. I just can't beat him in a showdown. It doesn't matter if I start off with the better cards or he does. He will ALWAYS end up on top.

Even today, a friend of mine who I barely see said had this to say after Duncan took me out yet again in a small game tonight, "Man, Duncan got you again huh?"

My reply, "Oh, so you have heard about how often he beats me?"

His response, "Of course I have. It is almost a thing of legend now how bad he has your number."

See, someone who I barely see knows about my misfortune. I can play well only to lose tons of chips to Duncan ANYTIME I go up against him. Tonight I played well again and it came down to myself and Duncan. I didn't really lose any bad beats to him, but he just always got the cards he wanted. Almost EVERY time. I joked that I need to have shirt made that says, "Duncan's Bitch." That is how I feel. It is not like I played bad either. I play the same way with him as I do with others. I just am able to get cards against others. Not him though. Last week, there were EIGHTEEN different cards in one hand that would have helped me take out Duncan. About a third of the deck. Those who play know that is a lot of outs. I expected that after all my shitty luck with him, I would get some luck that time. Of course I didn't. Jason joked around that I just need to start folding anytime Duncan plays a hand. It's ludicrous, but it almost sounds like a good thing now. All I can do is keep playing how I am playing and hope the world evens out. Daniel Larusso kept getting beat up by Johnny only to prevail in the end. I need to find out what the equivalent of the Crane Technique is for poker.

The Agony

TV is just too painful to watch right now. It is not that it is bad television(although there is plenty of that out there.) It is what is on the tv that physically hurts right now.

1. Sacramento Kings games - Well, I said this was going to happen. We suck. I mean, we are just painful to watch. There is no way that we should be THIS bad, but the truth is in the images. Webber is crapping it up out there in Philly, but I think the main reason is that he doesn't fit in with the team offense. You know what, I think the new guys we got ARE better than I expected. They play hard. But just like Webb doesn't fit in Philly, I don't think these guys quite fit in with us. This has to be Petrie throwing in the towel until next year. What he has in store, I don't know. But we are done. We were so close. It seems like just yesterday we were a powerhouse that was a serious championship contender. We were right there. That day unfortunately is gone. It kills me. Chances don't always come back so easily. It could be years before it happens again. Just depressing.

2. Survivor Season 10 - Good season so far, but the most painful to watch ever. As some of you know, I applied to be on this season. I have watched this show since the beginning and I finally got off my ass to apply. Why? Because I think i can do really well on this show. They have guys that are as unathletic as me on there. It is how smart you play the game. I think I would have done well. It seems like I am analyzing every little thing that happens on this show now. "Would I have done that? What would I have done here? I never would have done that?" Yesterday, the pain just erupted. A guy rolled his ankle and then told his team to vote him off since he was no longer any use to them. He said it was for the good of the team. WHAT?!?!?! When did this become a freakin' team game? What, did you give up? Did you want to save face and say you told them to vote you off rather than face people and say that you were voted off even though you wanted to stay? Thousands of people apply to be on this show and you quit. I don't care if I have a "broken freakin' neck" (Thanks for the quote Kurt), I am going to stay on that show until someone votes me off. But this guy quits because he can't walk. So what! Fly under the radar and see for yourself if they vote you off. Maybe some people will burn bridges and get themselves voted off while you rest your ankle a few more days. God knows people have gone far in the game while doing jack shit. But no, this pussy has to quit while I sit on my ass at home thinking of what could have been. You son of a motherless goat...

The Pretentious, Pontificating Prophets: Or Holy Rollers Revealed:

There are 3 people that I consider to be 'led by the Holy Spirit'. And this topic is not about them. It's about those people who feel it's their job to change the world. And no, I'm not talking about JWs, they're so outwardly obvious with their stupidity, they need no help from me. I'm talking about those arrogant, so-called Christians who preach the almighty word, and practice a different lifestyle.

It's these same people that believe I'm impressed with their godliness. I don't give a flying fuck what they do with their religion. I have my beliefs; you have yours, leave me alone. I don't care how holy you believe you are.

But then, every once in a blue moon, you see 'em. The truth of the pontificating prophet breaks the surface and exposes itself as the phony it really is.

The greatest single cause of atheism in the world today is Christians, who acknowledge Jesus with their lips and walk out the door and deny Him by their lifestyle. THAT is what an unbelieving world simply finds unbelievable. (Rev. Billy Graham)

I was witness to a situation that exposed a family of "Christians" to the dark side of reality. One might expect that they'd turn and run FOR their God. But what really happened was the opposite; they ran FROM their God. What's better than a Holy Roller running from the faith that they wear like an Olympic medal? How about those same Holy Rollers exiling everyone who would oppose them.

Because the perpetrator was within their family, they circled the wagons around themselves. They said fuck you to anyone who asked, "What would Jesus do.” And they began the process of defying the laws of the land.

From this begs the question; how would they counsel someone in their church that has a similar problem? "That is evil unless the perpetrator is a member of your direct family" (amen). How can they go to church and lead others to Christ when they, themselves, only follow Him when it is convenient to do so?

The moral of the story, don't push your faith around me. I'm fed up with this bullshit. Lead with your life; not your pretentious, self-righteous, propagandistic words.

[BTW, I still do believe in God in spite of the stupid religious people out there.]

Now introducing...

As you may have seen, I now have guest bloggers. I have opened this site up to friends and the wife if they want to get something off their chests. If you read below, they have plenty that they want to say. Anybody else that wants to write here, just drop me a line and let me know. I know that all of my friends have SOMETHING that irks them...

Only stupid people are breeding.

I'm not a kid person. I don't like kids, I don't relate to kids, and I think that too many stupid people are breeding. Case in point, my neighbor:

I live in a cute little town, usually known for its uppity white people. I like uppity white people. I'd like to be an uppity white people someday myself. However, my neighbor is a fat bitch of the lowest order. She's got about a dozen kids that are always outside. And guess where those little bastards like to play………right in front of my fucking house!

That wouldn't be so bad, if there was some supervision. But there isn't. Every stupid welfare receiving, over breeding, piece of shit mother just sends their future convicts outside so they don't have to deal with 'em. Thanks bitch.

One might ask, 'where's their father'? Wouldn't we all like to know? There hasn't been a man near that house in the entire year that we've lived here. Come to think of it, what white guy would possibly impregnate that thing next door? White, did I say white? Yup. The fat bitch is white. And every illegitimate little shit head is white too. It goes to show you that white trash is just as bad as black trash. Some could argue that white trash is worse than black trash because black trash lives in the ghetto, white trash lives in white neighborhoods. I have no doubt in my mind that this fat fuck is living off of the buckets of child support that she must receive from the numerous fathers out there (besides being a burden on society and collecting welfare at the same time).
I believe that there should be an IQ test for perspective mothers. If the bitch is too stupid to be alive, rip her reproductive organs out. Now there's a tax I can go for.

There are other types of stupid breeders out there. How about those that can't afford to pay their bills, yet they're trying for ANOTHER child (we know some people like that). They are our future welfare recipients. And let's not forget our current welfare recipients. They breed simply to increase their welfare check amount. And finally there are today's teens. Those blossoming bitches that believe they have what it takes to be a mother while still in high school. They are the obvious offspring of a stupid parent.

If you're stupid, please don't breed.

A Grammar Lesson

Hi! I'm Manuel's wife and he invited me to be a guest-blogger. Thanks for the invite, hon, as you know I have some things to rant about too...

So my first and foremost rant, something that irritates me beyond belief, is misplaced apostrophes. I have made it my personal mission in life to educate the ignorant about misplaced apostrophes, something that you learn in 4th grade - and I should know, I live with a 4th grade teacher. So for all of you who were absent that day, here you go:

When a word has an apostrophe, it indicates possession, meaning something that belongs to someone. For example, my name is Jessica and I have a dog - Jessica's dog. I also have a house - Jessica's house. I am giving a grammar lesson - Jessica's grammar lesson. The point of this lesson: an apostrophe indicates possession.

So, with that in mind, when I go to Best Buy, why do I see signs that say: DVD's for $9.99? When I go to Safeway, why do I see packages that say: Ore Ida Pizza Mini's? When I'm driving down the street, why do I see a van that advertises: Errand's by Jane? What belongs to the DVDs? What belongs to the pizza minis? What belongs to the errands? The answer is nothing! Nothing belongs to the DVDs and the pizza minis and the errands because those are real life examples of today's lesson, misplaced apostrophes!

When there is more than one of something it is plural, and to indicate this, an s is placed after the word. For example, there is a CD on my desk. If there were four on my desk, I would have four CDs. Generally people sleep with more than one pillow - two pillows. I have a car and Manuel has a car, thus we have two cars. The point of this lesson: plural words have an s at the end.

Now, you must notice that nowhere in the plural leson did I mention apostrophes, did I? Then stop putting apostrophes in plural words!!!!! That's my point about misplaced apostrophes. It is WRONG to have a sign that says: DVD's for $9.99. If you were not absent that day in 4th grade Best Buy, you would know the correct way to write it would be: DVDs for $9.99. Likewise, Ore Ida, you packaging should read: Ore Ida Pizza Minis. And Jane, come on...

So there it is. My first blog and I feel like I have taken a huge step toward the education of America. Please feel free to share your examples of misplaced apostrophes. Be sure to include the offending company - I may just call and have a chat with them. I've done it before...

Why, why, why?

Of course, I am talking about the trade of Chris Webber. This one hit me like a bombshell last night. I wanted to sit down and write about it right away, but I wanted to wait and listen to Petrie's news conference. I was hoping that it would give me the answers as to why in the world this trade was made. Unfortunately. after this conference, I was still just as perplexed as when I heard the news - 8:42 pm on 2/23 to be exact. This trade hurts. I have been a Webb fan since the good ol' Fab Five days. When he got traded to my Kings, it was a dream come true. Then the good times began for this franchise. Could they be over? Has Petrie thrown in the towel? Well, let's look at why this trade might have been done...

1.To get rid of Webb's Contract - Yes, he had a huge contract. But now we are stuck with three guys with decent sized contracts. Thomas's even goes 'till like 2010. So yes, Webb's contract is gone, but we aren't in THAT much better shape.

2.To avoid the risk of Webb going down again - Sure, he is injury prone. But I was willing to take the chance. Especially after seeing what he could do this year on basically one leg. None of the guys we got when HEALTHY are going to make the game winning and clutch 4th quarter shots that Webb has made this year. So let's take the risk. That is my view anyways.

3. Peja was unhappy and wanted out unless Webb was gone - Very likely. This is what I believe happened. The team is ready to say, "Ok, Peja, this is your team. You got what you want. Now take us there." But can he? He has been such a baby this year, I don't know if he can. At least Webb is willing to take a big shot. Peja hides in clutch moments. Is he our leader? All I can say is that if this is what happened, Peja better sack up and start taking over games. If he doesn't improve and is still sulking like he has been all year, then screw him. Let him go run off to L.A. with his security blanket Vlade.

So, how will this trade affect us? It could go either way. We lost an All-Star. He didn;t make the team, but that was debatable. Are we going to have to change the offense. We rely so much on the high post offense. Is Kenny Thomas going to be able to make the nice passes to cutting guards or hit the occassional 18 foot jumper? Doesn't look promising. The only way it might help is if Thomas gets his butt down on the blocks and picks up some much needed rebounds for us. I mean, really bang down there to justify getting him. If he can't improve our rebounding and defense and hurts the way our offense works, then what was the point? That is what I am still trying to figure out. If it doesn't work out, then look out below. Down the standings we go. I am going to miss you Webb. It's just not right. Not all of Sacto hated you...

Way to go fatty

I am not doing so well on my diet. I am back up to 240.5. It has been really hard for me to get back on it. When my wife was gone on vacation for a week, I couldn't do it simply because I had no desire to cook for myself. Then, when my wife got back, neither of us could ge int he mood to diet after being bad the previous week. I feel really guilty because I really want this. I just am having trouble with the motivation. This week is already off to a not so good start with Valentine's Day, dinner for my wife on Friday night, a bunch of running around on Saturday, and then dinner at the in-laws on Sunday. Whew. What I am going to do?

The Kings got screwed AGAIN tonight. Ok, this is getting ridiculous. Last week, they lost two games in part because of CLEAR bad calls at the end of the game. Twice in one week! Tonight, they got screwed again by a game changing call that could have made all the difference. This was also CLEARLY a bad call at the end of the game. There is no way this can happen to a team three times in the span of a week. So the Kings should have never let it get to one call at the end of the game. But that is the NBA. It would just be nice to know that if it does come down to the end, calls will be made right. This has not been the case. I am fuming right now. I am pissed. Can my team get no love? In the meantime, the boys are just sliding farther and farther down the rankings. Maybe this All Star break is what they need because they are in some kind of funk right now.

No one has read my blog in a about a week. What happened to this cult following? Should I even bother? If you read my blog, I don't care if you just comment to just say hi, just please leave comments. This place is as dead as ...(insert inappropriate joke here).

The Poker Gods Have Mercy

Saturday was the big tournament. I woke up at 5:30 in the morning to await whatever fate the Poker Gods decided to bestow on me. The tournament didn't start until 9:00am, but we had to be there early for signups. Since there were only a certain number of seats available, I didn't even have a seat right away. I had to wait until 3 people were knocked out for me to sit down. Luckily, that only took about 15 minutes. What a tense 15 minutes that was though. Not quite the tension I have before a big soccer game, but pretty damn close. I think it could have had even more if I had had the slightest bit of confidence that I would actually do well. So, I found out that there was going to be 87 people in the tournament, or as I like to call it, 86 people against me. That includes the three people I went with. However, once they called my name, all the tension I had instantly disappeared. I was ready to play and ready to show what I had. Top 10 people were going to get money. These would be the people who would make it to the final table. So I sat down, and all of a sudden, I started winning hands. I won when I had the best cards and I won when I bet enough to make others think I had the best cards. After a couple of hours, I heard there were about 30 people left. Huh? I had already gone through about 40 people? Awesome! I should have known considering the fact that I had already seen 4 different people who were sitting on my left get eliminated. I should have known this was happening elsewhere. Suddenly, there were now 20 people left. By the next hand there were 18. And then it happened 15 minutes later. I was now at the final table. I had made it. The tournament started with 87 people and there were 10 left. One of those chumps just happened to be me. To make it even better, a friend of mine made it as well. We got a 5 minute break to relax. I tell ya, that 5 minutes was so exciting because I just got to relax and reflect on what I had accomplished. I finally ended up in 8th place. Disappointed that I didn't win? Sure, who wouldn't want to? But really, the disappointment is so minute that it barely even registers. I had beat 79 other people. A crowd of people was watching ME play poker! How friggin' cool is that? I got about $100 for my 3 hours of work, but really it isn't about the money. 6 months from now, I won't remember how much money I won, but I will remember what place I got and how the whole experience went. My buddy did even better - a 4th place finish. Just an unbelieveable day. When I dropped him off, I finally let it all out. Driving home, I let out a giant scream and pumped my fist in the air. I had achieved something that I didn't even begin to think was possible. Apparently, the Poker Gods had something up their sleeves for me. They work in mysterious ways.

The tournamant also finally gave me the closing signature I have been looking for...

"To do well, all I need is a chip and chair."

And do well I did.

Way late..

I don't know what took me so long to do this as the wife has been gone on vacation all week and I have done nothing. Anyways, I gained .5 pounds last week. I kind of figured I would as the wife and I ate out a bunch as we seemed to be always out at dinner time. Bummer. What sucks though is that I needed a weight loss to make up for this week. With the wife gone, I knew I would gain as I wouldn't want to cook much. Well, that is exactly what has transpired so I am not looking at all towards weighing in on Monday.

Tomorrow morning is the big poker tournament. I have to be there at 6:45 am to sign up and then the game will start at 9:00 am. With all the people that will be playing, I will need some luck. Well, if I do bad, at least the wife comes home tomorrow. That will be a prize in itself...
