"Old dogs, like old shoes, are comfortable. They might be a bit out of shape and a little worn around the edges, but they fit well."

I felt like Winston was getting too much of the love lately so I took Leia out to the field for some photos today. Here is a vintage looking Leia shot as the sun sets.
Little by little, I can see our Leia-Boo getting older and older. We adopted her about 8 and a half years ago from the SPCA where they estimated her to be about 2 years old. So this puts her roughly halfway to 11 years old. She has been the best dog that we could have ever asked for (despite her barking) and it saddens me to see her reaching old age. Mostly, she just lays and sleeps now, but the addition of Winston to the family has definitely added a little bit of energy to her doggy body. I don't feel she is anywhere near her final days or even years, but you can definitely see how old she has gotten.

To think that, when we got her, she had a brown face with a white stripe between her eyes. Now her whole face is white! She does do a lot of sleeping and sure does get grouchy easily, but in doggie years she's nearly 77 - I'd be tired and grouchy too! On the other hand, she can play with the best of them and still gets so very excited about going bye bye in the car. She is THE smartest dog I've ever met and has brought us 8.5 years of much happiness (despite her shedding enough for 5 dogs!) I too think she has a long time left with us, thank goodness. She's young at heart...
I remember when you got her. She is a beautiful girl! I love your Leia and hope she keeps going for many, many years.
That is a beautiful shot. Leia is a lucky girl :-)
My sweet Leia Boo! What a great granddoggie she is! I remember the day so well! She didn't demand a lot of attention!!! HA!!! that was an understatement! She's the best ever!
She looks very alert and happy in this shot, that's for sure!
It is sad, though, when our pets start getting old. :( We want them to be young, peppy and healthy forever.
