Rest

We're still in the same situation as before. Jessica's stepmom is still hanging on, but went into a nursing home today for a 5 day break simply because the care that she was requiring was just taking too much of a toll. Last night was the first night Jessica got to sleep at home in 9 days. Worse yet, we can call it the first time in 9 days that Jess actually got to sleep the whole night. Fran's time is short (although we have been thinking that for a while), but the strength she has shown has been inspirational.

Now that Jessica is back home, I hope to get in some kind of normal routine again. The Oscars are on Sunday and I still have to do my Oscar preview post! I promise to work on that and have it up by Thursday or Friday sometime. Be sure to check it out sometime prior to Sunday!

And now on to the last 5 days of pictures...

February 27th, 2010 - Day 275

Fran has always been a strong woman, in control and strong-willed. Apparently she's going to go out on her own terms and nobody else's. I as so torn about putting her in the home for respite care - logically I understand it was necessary for our health and sanity and peace of mind, but in my heart it feels like we bailed on her. It was so hard to leave her alone in that place tonight; I could have stayed with her, but that would have defeated the whole point, huh?

The picture of the fish is an awesome shot, very artistic. Fran would be proud.

I've always loved that statue of the people embracing, I suppose that's why you bought it for me as a wedding gift, huh? The coloring around the picture really enhances the patina of the statue.

Glad you got your picture of the day in, even if at the (planned) last minute. Couldn't you have dusted off the clock first?!

I look like a zombie laying there on the sofa...

Mmm, I LOVE honey. I can't wait to see the other honey picture we talked about after this one.

Poor Jess! Though you may feel you look like a zombie, I'm sure not even Manuel's expert photography skills can capture the physical and emotional toll these last few weeks have taken on you. Glad you managed to get a decent night's sleep last night, and hopefully with Fran in respite care this will continue.

A great batch of pictures as always, but the picture of the clock is fantastic. Talk about scoring just before the buzzer! Great work as always.

I love your picture of Jess resting, but that picture of the embracing couple brings tears to my eyes. Probably because I know what a toll this has been on you two, but also because of Fran and Dave. A strong, loving, devoted couple being torn apart by a ruthless, uncaring, souless, sneaky disease. Tears, Nani

I'm glad to hear you are all have a respite...although I know that can be difficult too.

I love all the photos, but the honey one is very evocative for some reason.

Aw, I love that sculpture!

Thank you for reminding me about the Oscars, I wasn't sure if it was this weekend or next. Don't they usually appear around the end of March, though?
