Closure

Saturday was a very important day for the family.  As you may recall, Jessica's stepmom passed away in March after a courageous battle with cancer.  She was cremated, but we (well, her Dad), have been holding on to her ashes ever since.  Although Fran never explicitly said that she believed in reincarnation, she always did say that she would love to come back as a bear one day.  With that in mind, what better place to spread her ashes than in the forest where bears roam?   So Saturday, we traveled up north to the Lake Tahoe area and into the Tahoe National Forest to release her ashes into the beautiful country.  As a bonus, the trail was rough and limited to off road vehicles.  So, I got to do some real 4-wheeling for the first time!  As a negative though, I forgot the battery for my camera so I didn't get the photos I could have.  Instead, we had to go with cell phone pics and a small digital camera.  Oh well.

And this is what Fran will get to look at forever!

Emotional day, but a happy one at the same time.

Saturday was a great day. The weather was absolutely beautiful, the 4-wheeling on the Rubicon was fun and the views were amazing. I really think Fran will be happy in the place we chose for her.

In spite of no "expensive" camera, these pictures were beautiful - or I guess it was just the moment that made it special.

Fran was truly a special woman who I miss so, so much. What a beautiful spot you guys found for her for eternity!

Love you Fran - with all my heart! RIP now beautiful lady!

That's so beautiful and sad and poignant all at the same time. What a gorgeous place for ashes. Nice photos too.

Like everyone else, I think they were still good photos and that you guys did a beautifully, respectful and loving tribute. Thank you for taking everyone else along by way of sharing.

If there is something for us after this life, I think you guys helped to make that more enjoyable.

What a beautiful place! Not bad shots for a camera phone and a digital camera!

That location looks absolutely pristine and beautiful. I would love to look out on the scenery myself.
