What's Up With This Weather?

So, last I checked, it is June now, right?  And I live in the California Valley, right? Where it is supposed to be steaming hot by now?  So explain to me why it was in the high 40s in the midday and we had hail of biblical proportions!  It was UGLY!  It started this weekend with the horrible weather for my birthday party on Saturday.  Sunday and Monday were decent, but Tuesday started to look somewhat ugly by the end of the day.  In the following picture, you can see that the clouds and sky were starting to darken by nightfall, but that didn't keep the sunset from giving off a beautiful orange hue on the roofs of the houses behind me.

May 31st, 2011 - Day 151

And that would be the last sun I would see for a while as today was pretty ugly.  But it wasn't until the afternoon that the sky really opened up with the already mentioned hail storm.  When it finally broke for a few minutes, I ran outside with my camera to take a picture.

June 1st, 2011 - Day 152

In a couple weeks, I'll be back complaining about the heat.

REM said it best with, "It's the end of the world as we know it..." :-)

Wait, you didn't brave the elements to take a picture of the hail while it was still falling?! Pssht, I thought you had dedication!

I like the contrast in the first photo of the cold, dark sky and the warm looking orange glow.

And hail is just nifty. I mean, more the idea of it than actually experiencing it...

Complaining like most people is right. Yesterday on FB everyone was talking about the weather and how this was June and supposed to be warm, etc. etc. and all I could think was that one month from now everyone would be complaining about the heat and how they want the cool weather back.

Anyway, nice picture of the sun setting on the houses. That is beautiful. And I'm with Jess..no picture of actual hail falling. Perfect either way!!!

That's really weird that you guys would have hail! Although it is never a good sign when hail is involved, it is still cool to take photos of when it falls. Our state gets really excited.
