Happy Birthday To Me Damnit!

I deserve a happy birthday today. Especially after an embaressing last place finish at a friend's poker tournament last night. Granted, I had THE worst cards I think I have EVER seen, but I played pretty dumb and impatiently after things did not get better. Just tragic. So, I deserve a good birthday today.

Damnit....

Let the Debate begin...

Just finished watching Hoosiers for the first time in my life. Yeah, I know. A huge basketball AND movie fan like myself has not seen Hoosiers? Sometimes, you just never get around to seeing some movies. I have always wanted to see it because many consider it to be the greatest sports film of all time. So of course, I went in expecting a great movie. It wasn't bad. But it wasn't what I expected. Of course, I knew how it ended before I saw it, but that shouldn't take anything away from it. Take the movie "Miracle" for example. I knew how that was going to end. The story is legend. However, after that movie, I felt so moved and inspired. It touched me. I might have even had to hold back tears. I didn't get that with Hoosiers. I wanted to reach that level, but it didn't even come close. Like I said, many consider Hoosiers THE quintessential sports movie. I would have to disagree. I would have to place Miracle above it. It just took me to an emotional level that Hoosiers was not able to attain. So, comments are asked for, what is better Hoosiers or Miracle?

Star Wars Episode III: The One That Gives You Chills

What a friggin' marvelous movie! Lucas sure got it right with this one. After disappointing many with Attack of the Clones, Lucas came right back and delivered a movie that may be the best of the series. Well, it was probably not a better movie overall than A New Hope and Empire Strikes Back, but it is not too far behind. For emotional value and gut wrenching emotion though, this one might have then topped. The last 30 minutes or so are just so emotional and really bring out the little boy in me who loved the original three. The transition between the end of this movie and A New Hope is seamless. I don't want to give too much away for those who haven't seen it. Just go see this movie! NOW!!!

Victory is so sweet....

I passed my test. After what seems like forever, after putting in an endless amount of hours pouring over real estate law, and after worrying myself to the point that I think I have created an ulcer, I have passed my test to become a real estate agent. I have passed a test that I believe only 60% pass on the first try. I have passed the test that will lead me away from a job that I despise to a career that I feel in my heart I will love. I have done it and the reward for passing it feels sweet. Thank you to everyone who encouraged me and had faith. The feeling is just damn overwhelming...

Version 1.0

What would you die for? Better yet, what would you kill for? Emotions have a way of making people act a certain way, but it is the most powerful of them all that makes us do things that once were impossible. LOVE. It can blind a man into sacrificing his own morale fiber to gain knowledge of how to extend this love that he has in his heart. It can bring tears of joy and sadness simultaneously to two seperate people who are miles apart. It can narrow the focus of a person to the point of validating the belief in the oft used cliche "means to an end". Love is the most powerful of all the emotions in that it can morph itself into any other emotion and magnify it's intensity to the point that one forgets that love was what started it all in the first place.

It brings the question again. What would you die for? What would you kill for? Love has always been and will continue to be something that can never be kept a secret. In order to keep something hidden from the outside world one must have a cold, calculating heart that allows no emotion to betray his sole purpose of staying hidden. That kinda natural-never-felt-it-before-but-don't-doubt-it-at-all love makes you the kinda person that could never hide at all. And why would anyone want to hide that kida feeling? Especially if this love has been the cause of so many changes and the one reason you are the person you are today.

I know turn back into the regular me. My name is Rich Bauer. I will misspell and abuse the english language all the time and just kinda hope you all get what I mean. Hope you come back again soon. Cause it doesn't all have to be about complaints and grievances. By the way, if you are curious about the first two paragraphs then I simply say this......GO SEE Star Wars episode 3. It's a love story. And that was my 2 paragraph take on it. Or was it.........

Let's Kick It...

Yo, vip, let’s kick it!
Ice ice baby, ice ice baby
All right stop, collaborate and listen
Ice is back with my brand new invention
Something grabs a hold of me tightly
Then I flow like a harpoon daily and nightly
Will it ever stop?
yo -- I don’t know
Turn off the lights and I’ll glow
To the extreme I rock a mic like a vandal
Light up a stage and wax a chump like a candle.
Dance, bum rush the speaker that booms
I’m killing your brain like a poisonous mushroom
Deadly, when I play a dope melody
Anything less than the best is a felony
Love it or leave it, you better gain way
You better hit bull’s eye, the kid don’t play
If there was a problem, yo, I’ll solve it
Check out the hook while my dj revolves it
Ice ice baby vanilla, ice ice baby vanilla
Ice ice baby vanilla, ice ice baby vanilla
Now that the party is jumping
With the bass kicked in, the vegas are pumpin’
Quick to the point, to the point no faking
I’m cooking mcs like a pound of bacon
Burning them if they’re not quick and nimble
I go crazy when I hear a cymbal
And a hi hat with a souped up tempo
I’m on a roll and it’s time to go solo
Rollin’ in my 5.0
With my ragtop down so my hair can blow
The girlies on standby, waving just to say hi
Did you stop? no -- I just drove by
Kept on pursuing to the next stop
I busted a left and I’m heading to the next block
That block was dead
Yo -- so I continued to a1a beachfront ave.
Girls were hot wearing less than bikinis
Rockman lovers driving lamborghinis
Jealous ’cause I’m out geting mine
Shay with a gauge and vanilla with a nine
Reading for the chumps on the wall
The chumps acting ill because they’re so full of eight balls
Gunshots ranged out like a bell
I grabbed my nine -- all I heard were shells
Falling on the concrete real fast
Jumped in my car, slammed on the gas
Bumper to bumper the avenue’s packed
I’m trying to get away before the jackers jack
Police on the scene, you know what I mean
They passed me up, confronted all the dope fiends
If there was a problem, yo, I’ll solve it
Check out the hook while my dj revolves it
Ice ice baby vanilla, ice ice baby vanilla
Ice ice baby vanilla, ice ice baby vanilla
Take heed, ’cause I’m a lyrical poet
Miami’s on the scene just in case you didn’t know it
My town, that created all the bass sound
Enough to shake and kick holes in the ground
’cause my style’s like a chemical spill
Feasible rhymes that you can vision and feel
Conducted and formed, this is a hell of a concept
We make it hype and you want to step with this
Shay plays on the fade, slice like a ninja
Cut like a razor blade so fast, other djs say, damn
If my rhyme was a drug, I’d sell it by the gram
Keep my composure when it’s time to get loose
Magnetized by the mic while I kick my juice
If there was a problem, yo -- I’ll solve it!
Check out the hook while deshay revolves it
Ice ice baby vanilla, ice ice baby vanilla
Ice ice baby vanilla, ice ice baby vanilla
Yo man -- let’s get out of here! word to your mother!
Ice ice baby too cold, ice ice baby too cold too cold
Ice ice baby too cold too cold, ice ice baby too cold too cold...

Hodgepodge

So much to say...

My arch nemeis struck again on Saturday night. Duncan beat me in a hand where I was a clear favorite. If I win the hand and he doesn't get lucky, I win poker night. However, once again, he outdrew me, and a few hands later, I am relegated to 2nd place. I was at a loss for words. Even he admitted it was lucky. As a matter of fact, he was lucky to even be in that position - he got lucky other times in the game against different people. That guy just must be on the right side of the poker gods. Not sure what to say...

Kings suck. Yup, that pretty much covers that...

You know what I think I am going to miss the most about teaching? The answers I sometimes get from students. I tell ya, just reading what they put down sometimes is enough to make my day. From my very first day of teaching, these kids started to crack me up. I remember on my first day of teaching, I gave my students a spelling pretest just to see what they knew. The word was something like "crack." The student who gave me a chuckle was the one who wrote "ckrkak." HUH? I knew from day one, not all students are created equal. I know it is bad to laugh because it is really sad, but hey, you have to find the humor in it. Well, today I got an answer that I know is going to be the best of my three years of teaching. The students had fill in the blank sentences with their spelling words. The question was, "The millionaire worked hard to earn his _____." The correct answer was wealth. Put it in the sentences and read it. But no, the student's answer was this instead: "The millionaire worked hard to earn his women." I almost pissed my pants. I mean, I guess it could work in that sentence. Can't say that it hasn't happened. But still, what a friggin' answer, and from a 4th grader no less. What do they know about working for women? Classic.

There is another irate strory about the law coming up, but that will be next time. I think I went the whole blog without swearing. Good for me.

"I am here to chew bubble gum and kick ass, and I'm all out of bubble gum."
