January 9th, 2010 - Day 226

The last fireplace I took a photo of was a gas fireplace. This time, I got the opportunity to shoot a REAL one and the results came out that much better!

That's awesome. I really like that you can see the little vertical lines in the log as it breaks while it burns. And the absolute blackness of the log is cool too. Yeah, very nice shot overall.

I thought it was a special type log. Really cool shot. I looked at it larger and it really does show so much detail.

You are sooooo great!

Mom, Brandon said it was a special, environmentally friendly, compressed cardboard starter log.

Tara, I actually put this picture as the desktop on my computer and did the same thing the other night! Great minds think alike!

Very cool. You can almost see movement in it.

Fire is always such a great subject for intersting captures. Only in a picture I can touch it and don't get burned. lol.

The log in this picture reminds me of one of those ash snake fireworks, albeit a large one. I like the look of the flames, as well as the light shining through the log as it burns. Additionally, the texture of the ash, the embers beneath the log, and the warm red glow on the underside of the log are vividly-captured.
