Having seen your Facebook status stating that you'd gotten this shot by 11:10 AM, I'm curious as to whether you simply happened upon the hummingbird feeding, or if you had to stake out the feeder for awhile until the bird flew into the shot.

Also, knowing that a hummingbird can flap its wings more than fifty times a second, it's remarkable how still its wings look, particularly the closer one. This is a really cool photo!

Mmm...sugar water. That's great that you got a hummingbird in mid flight! My mom has had hummingbird visitors this Summer, she thinks they might have a nest somewhere close.

Knowing how hard you worked to get this shot makes me appreciate it even more. It is remarkably clear for not using a tripod. Also, like Sal said, it's very cool you got his wings to be still seeing as how they go so freaking fast! This is a really good one, sweetie!

This is really an amazing catch. And even more knowing that you didn't use a tripod. Seeing it large on your computer wallpaper was even more amazing. Beautiful picture.

Awesome! I didn't realize you fed the hummers, they are such wonderful creatures, although ridiculously territorial.
