Old Man Winter

If we had no winter, the spring would not be so pleasant:
if we did not sometimes taste of adversity,
prosperity would not be so welcome.

- Anne Bradstreet

This wasn't the original shot I intended.  I walked in my back yard without an idea in the world as to what to shoot.  I get that way sometimes after a long day of work; where my mind has been on anything other than what photograph to take for the day.  I walked outside though and had a pretty brilliant idea, but alas, the sun was too far down for the day.  As a secondary shot, I went with this instead.  Still, I am pretty happy.

I like it. It does seem wintery and a bit bleak, the bare twigs against a washed out sky.

I think this picture perfectly captures what Winter is, and the quote makes an already drearily beautiful photograph even more beatuiful.

It is a cool picture. I always love that you can take something so "unpretty" and make it beautiful. Glad the other didn't work out because look what we got. And...you still have another chance to take whatever it is you were going to do originally.

I love those lonely, stark shots. Very nice.

Yup, the blossoms are gone and Winter has arrived!
