Progressive Dinner

Sorry, been busy and lazy. Enough said. Anyways, last night, Jess and I did a progressive dinner with our folks. This is the 2nd time we have done this, with appetizers at one house, dinner at another house, and concluding with dessert at the final house. The first time was great and we followed it up with another fun time. Here is the picture diary:

Appetizers were at my parents' house...

They made a great fruit bouquet

These are mini chicken balls - chicken mixed with cream cheese and butter wrapped in a puff pastry.

Home-made sangria

This is what 6 grapes in your mouth looks like

Dinner was at Jessica's parents' house

We were going to have bread, but they caught on fire - literally

Salad with beets, mandarin oranges, and bleu cheese

Fresh tuna(corn on the cob not pictured)

Dessert was at our house

Jess did a great napkin arrangement

We grilled a ton of fruit

Homemade ice cream!

The full spread

Picture of all 6 of us at the end of the night. We thought the camera looked like it was tilting so we tilted to compensate. Or maybe we just drank too much?

Grilled fruit is one of those truly underrated pleasures. Not enough people seem to think that fruit is grillable.

Those must have been some big grapes? Great photo...it takes a brave person to post photos like that.

I have done the progressive dinner before and thought it really fun. I was responsible for the entree and I did T-bone steaks and garlic mashed potatoes.

Progressive dinners are so much fun, but what is even better is the company and the great food. We have decided that everything we make has to be "out of our box". We are already looking forward to the next one in September.

I've never heard of a progressive dinner. That's a great idea. The only question I have is, how does the person who serves the dinner portion keep the food warm until they get back from the appetizer portion?

Do you guys all live near each other?

Nobody can resist the chicken balls. Reminds me of a Saturday Night Live skit.

That whole dinner looks scrumptious. I love the tablecloth in that first shot! Very colorful.

Evil E - Yeah, I am a fan of grilled fruit now for sure

Mom - Yeah, next one will be fun!

Sonja - The challenge is creating something that you know wont take a LONG time to prepare and cook once you get to your house. Yes, we are all within 10 minutes of each other.

Nani - Great fun!

Alien - We sure weren't hungry after

MBHW - You should try fruit like that

Tara - Yeah, I want that tablecloth too!

Laura - You should try it!
