November 7, 2009 - Day 163

Leftover Halloween candy, but interestingly enough, not anything we bought. We stopped buying candy after maybe 5 total trick or treaters total in the first 3 years we lived here.

I love the colors, so sharp and vivid. I guess it was a good thing I got put on call yesterday - I was going to take all that candy to work!

Oo Skittles! Nice.

My brother hardly got any trick-or-treaters this year. He said people were outside all set up. And my mom doesn't get any trick or treaters. It's sad how that part of Halloween is fading.

Yeah, trick or treating is going by the wayside, it seems. More candy for you though! And a nice, bright picture :-)

Yum! We don't get trick-or-treaters where we live now. Maybe we'll get some at our new house.

The many reds, yellows and oranges seen in this picture make it the perfect autumn photo!

We don't get many trick-or-treaters in West Roseville; I suspect that paranoia about sending children to knock on strangers' doors, as well as some cultures' views on the holiday (i.e. at my wife's previous school, when she taught locally) Halloween celebrations were completely forbidden due to a predominantly Russian and Ukrainian student body) have something to do with this. However, this year we spent Halloween with Katie's parents in the Bay Area. The amount of trick-or-treaters they got was astounding! Apparently the tradition is still alive and well, just not everywhere.
