Evil E's Saturday Scavenger Hunt #1

Many of you may know this already, but Evil E has started a new photo actvity for all to partcipate in. Rather than trying to explain it myself, I will let him explain what we are doing,

"Since the response to my photo scavenger hunt was really good and enthusiastic, I think I will proceed. Let’s take a stab at this. The “Saturday Scavenger Shots” activity (not a contest) or game is on. I will try to lay down the groundwork for the idea and of course, accept any input that you all may want to add to the idea.

As I mentioned the other night, my idea is to use this as a means to play with your cameras and get a cheap and easy weekend post out of it. All the while, making sort of a game of it. It seems like a fun idea and enough people were interested in it. Here are the parameters of the activity/game:

• The premise is to find photo-ops related to a word given by a participant. I used “blue” as an example the other night. The word “blue” could be taken as a blue, colored object. It could be interpreted as a mood or feeling. You could take a photo of something that is racy or raunchy and see that as “blue”. You could take a photograph a blue’s band. I leave defining the word of the week to you.

•About the word of the week: one person out in blog-world will come up with the word. This person is determined by the last person who chose the word. For example, if Alien did the word for a week, he might choose Tara. This is where I need some help. How will the next person get “tagged” and how will everyone else know what the new word is? I have a few ideas:

The person is named on the Saturday/Sunday post of the weeks photos, leaving the rest of the participants to check that blog. The named does a post that names the new word on their blog.

An Email group that identifies the new person and the new word.

A Sunday post that names the new person and word done by me or some other point person
Input please…..

•As mentioned above, once the new word for the week is determined on say Sunday (if that is OK), the participants have the entire week to look for associated photo-ops. One might choose to take 1 photo or 10, I leave that to you. Scanning old photos is perfectly acceptable as well. (I have a scanner now and I want to use it)

•The only rule is that everyone use original photos that they have on hand or take during the week.

•On the Saturday of the given week, everyone posts the photo(s) on their blogs and lets the fun begin.

•Sunday, I think could be the starting point for the next week (see above)…..once again, input please."

So, Evil E decided to make the week of photos revolve around the word, "FALL." I had a great idea that I was really excited about. I was going to take a picture of poker chips falling out of a hand to the table. I tried many times, but I couldn't get the chips to stay in focus. I know it has to do with the speed they drop, but I just couldn't get something I liked. I guess I need help with shutter speed and aperature and all that business. Night Panther, I am looking in your direction! Anyway, I decided to instead use a picture I took last weekend at my cousin's wedding. I think the picture looks very Fall like and to top it off, it was taken on the first day of Fall. Not what I wanted, but I guess it came out ok.

Be sure to click on it to see it in all its glory. He has named Tara as the person to come up with this week's word. I just glanced at it and she came up with "Bug." Should be a fun one!

Frightful Dilemma #10

Still can't bring myself to do the really gross one I found. It involved tumors and eyeballs and your appetite. Yeah, better skip it. So today we get...

Would you rather...

For your living(how you earn your daily salary)

Have to clean silverwear at a restaurant with your mouth...

or...

Clean golf balls at the golf course wit your mouth??

Must be the week for my wife and I to meet crazy people downtown. Yesterday, I was downtown feeding the parking meter. Along comes a crazy person doing their "look at me, I'm CRAZY!" shake. I try to ignore the person, but as she gets behind me, she leans into me and says, "Yeah, you pay your fucking parking ticket!".......and then proceeds to keep on walking. I turn towards her, but she is already wlaking away and talking to herself about something else. I love/hate downtown!

Be sure to come back tomorrow for the first picture in Evil E's scavenger hunt!

Miss Sassy Pants

This morning I stopped by Rite Aid to drop off a prescription. Rite Aid is a block away from where I work Downtown, so I went on my way to work. As I was parking my car, I saw a transvestite walking toward Rite Aid. He was very tall and very thin, about 65 years old, wearing white strappy high heels, cream colored slacks with a pink and white striped skirt over them, a pink shirt and a long cream colored sweater. He had on lots of jewelry. His thinning gray hair was tied back in a pony tail, bald spot on top be damned. I chuckled to myself as I parked, only because seeing something like that kind of throws you for a loop. Otherwise, I couldn’t care less that he was dressed as a woman.

As the timing had it, I ended up walking right behind him into the store. About 5 feet into the store, I threw my keys into my purse and they made the usual key jingle sound that keys do. The following conversation took place:

Tranny (with attitude): What did you say to me?
Me (surprised): I didn’t say anything to you.
He/She (with even more attitude): Well then Miss Sassy Pants, go ahead and walk in front of me. God forbid I slow you down.

I walked in front of him with some pep in my step only because he was behind me and I didn’t know if he was a Vietnam vet and knew some serious Kung-Fu moves or was digging a gun out of his purse or something. What I really wanted to do was turn back to him, point at myself and say, “Real woman,” then point at him and say, “Fake woman,” but reference the previous sentence.

So anyway, that’s how I started my day – by being verbally attacked by a transvestite and getting my favorite new nick name: Miss Sassy Pants.

The Wedding

The trips are DONE! Not that I didn't enjoy myself going away 3 out of the last 4 weekends to celebrate weddings, but it will be nice to not have to go anywhere for a while. This past weekend was my cousin's wedding. It was pretty stressful leading up the wedding because of rain beforehand with the threat of rain during the ceremony. Then suddenly, the sky turned clear, we had blues skies, and the day ended on a beautiful note.

The wedding itself was great. It was at a beautiful bed n breakfast in the countryside and some amazing pictures were taken. Myself, I was a groomsman, which was fun. I even got to speak and since I didn't have a speech prepared, I made it up on the fly. I don't think it turned out too bad.

My cousin and I are only 3 months apart so we have basically gorwn up together despite the fact that we have always lived in different parts of the state. Here is a picture of us when we were little. I am on the left hand side.

Here is us this past weekend. I, of course, have switched the to right hand side.

Oh hell yeah!

Sure, this movie looks like pure trash, but I'll be seeing it anyways. That's a FACT!

Making the 5 hour drive south AGAIN this weekend. 3 weeks ago, it was for my sister's wedding. 2 weeks ago it was for my cousin's bachelor party. This weekend it will be for my cousin's wedding. I picked up my tux earlier today. I don't really mind it. I actually like dressing up and looking spiffy. When I return, I'll try to post a picture of me and my cousin when we were little and one from this weekend. Should be a great time. Have a great weekend everybody. No morbid question for you tomorrow as I am leaving really early. I'll save the gross one for next week...

A funny joke and a cool site...

I came across this joke yesterday and I believe anyone with a dog or car can relate to it. It gave me a good chuckle...

This is what we would read if we got to peek into the diary of a dog and cat...

A dog's diary:

7 am - Oh boy! A walk! My favorite!
8 am - Oh boy! Dog food! My favorite!
9 am - Oh boy! The kids! My favorite!
Noon - Oh boy! The yard! My favorite!
2 pm - Oh boy! A car ride! My favorite!
3 pm - Oh boy! The kids! My favorite!
4 pm - Oh boy! Playing ball! My favorite!
6 pm - Oh boy! Welcome home Mom! My favorite!
7 pm - Oh boy! Welcome home Dad! My favorite!
8 pm - Oh boy! Dog food! My favorite!
9 pm - Oh boy! Tummy rubs on the couch! My favorite!
11 pm - Oh boy! Sleeping in my people's bed! My favorite!

The cat's diary:

Day 183 of my captivity... My captors continued to taunt me with bizarre little dangling objects. They dine lavishly on fresh meat, while I am forced to eat dry cereal. The only thing that keeps me going is the hope of escape, and the mild satisfaction I get from clawing the furniture.

Tomorrow I may eat another house plant. Today my attempt to kill my captors by weaving around their feet while they were walking almost succeeded - must try this at the top of the stairs. In an attempt to disgust and repulse these vile oppressors, I once again induced myself to vomit on their favorite chair - must try this on their bed.

Decapitated a mouse and brought them the headless body in an attempt to make them aware of what I am capable of, and to try to strike fear in their hearts. They only cooed and condescended about what a good little cat I was. Hmmm, not working according to plan.

There was some sort of gathering of their accomplices. I was placed in solitary throughout the event. However, I could hear the noise and smell the food. More important, I overheard that my confinement was due to my powers of inducing "allergies." Must learn what this is and how to use it to my advantage.

I am convinced the other captives are flunkies and maybe snitches. The dog is routinely released and seems more than happy to return. He is obviously a half-wit.

The bird, on the other hand, has got to be an informant and speaks with them regularly. I am certain he reports my every move. Due to his current placement in the metal room, his safety is assured. But I can wait; it is only a matter of time.

Blogger, as many of you who have it probably already know, has a cool new site where you can see a slideshow of what pictures people are posting on their blogs in real time. It is fun to just stare at a while and see what it is that people are choosing to post on their blogs. FYI, this site is mostly work safe as Blogger said they have a filtering system to keep "adult" pics from getting through, but on rare occasions, a risque pic will get through. I watched this site for about 10 minutes yesterday before I decided I had to get back to work. Very fun!

Needles, drills, and movies...

It is only 2PM and I guess it is really a day to be punishing myself. This morning I woke up early to go to the dentist and have her give me a filling. The only thing that really hurt was having my mouth open that long, but still, it isn't the most comfortable thing in the world.

Later on, I had a doctor appointment so he could take a look at my calf muscle which has been hurting for about 3 months now. I don't remember ever injuring it, I just remember the pain has been nonstop for a long time. He felt around and felt what he thinks was scar tissue in my calf. He guesses somehow I must have torn it. I think I would remember something like that, but it makes sense. He gave me a cortisone injection in the calf muscle which thankfully didn't hurt as much as the size of the needle made it look like it could hurt. I don't know how quickly it is supposed to work though because 2 hours later or so, I can still feel the same pain. We'll see....

Saw three more movies on DVD and Blue Ray recently that I thought I would review....

Smokin Aces - This was a pretty fun movie that had a great cast. Basically, there is an informant with Mob ties in a suite in a hotel room. Officials, assassins, and everyone in between is trying to get to him first. The movie is full of colorful characters and it had a great mix of action and comedy. The movie had a few bloody scenes, but nothing that gore lovers like my wife and I couldn't handle. Definitely a movie that probably wouldn't have been made in the pre-Pulp Fiction era for its combo of language, blood, and quirky characters/scenes. 7.5 out of 10

Disturbia - Basically, this was Rear Window set in the modern age with teenagers. I hadn't heard a bad thing about it so we decided to give it a go. This movie was very entertaining. The characters were funny and they threw in a decent amount of suspense to counteract the overall teenage feel of the film. Very enjoyable... 8 out of 10.

Hot Fuzz - This was made by and starred the same people who did Shaun of the Dead. I loved SOTD and I was pretty jazzed to see a movie by the same people. I was not disappointed at all. The lead character is a super cop who gets transferred to a town where nothing ever happens crime wise. Of course, that doesn't stay that way forever. It's basically a comedy, but had some rather gruesome parts. A lot of the movie is an obvious jab at Hollywood cop movies, and it is done a a very funny way. Hearing the characters discuss films like Point Break and Bad Boys 2 is hilarious. The English accents of the characters are sometimes a little strong, but you get it for the most part. If you like buddy cop movies and you like to laugh, this is a must! 9 out of 10!

Frightful Dilemma Friday #9

I had a real gross one that I found in my Dileema book that involved tumors and eyeballs, but since I almost gagged just reading it, I decided to skip that one. Maybe I will save it for next week...

So today...

Would you rather ....

Have a sleepwalking problem that causes you to wander the streets in your neighborhood at night...

or...

causes you to get up and pee on all your furniture at night?

Well, last week I told you to party up the weekend Van Damme style. Why don't we switch it up and party up the weekend Leonidas style!

Have a good weekend everyone! I know my posts have been sparse lately so I promise at least 4 new posts next week. Boo yeah!

Top 5 Tuesday #16

I had a good time at my cousin's bachelor party this past weekend. He and all his friends are all musicians so the night consisted mostly of them jamming on their instruments. Nothing like hearing some Metallica covers in the living room! Good times! I am looking forward to his wedding next weekend. This weekend thankfully, I get to stay home. That will be nice...

On to my top five for the week. With Fall just around the corner, what are your favorite things about the Fall?

#5 - The grass and weeds slow down their growth. Thank GOD! You should see my backyard right now. It is a jungle. The Fall at least will slow it down a little...

#4 - The day after Thanksgiving sales!!! Yeah, I haven't even made it to a store on this day for a couple of years now. But damnit, it sure is fun looking at all the ads and seeing all the good sales! Maybe this year I might actually participate in this madhouse!

#3 - Bye bye heat. I live in the valley in California. It gets hot! The cooling weather is a welcome change!

#2 - Sports seasons are in full effect! The NBA season will be starting, the NFL season will be going strong, and a plethora of good soccer games will be going on in Europe! Not to mention, baseball will be leaving us and won't take up my sports page!

#1 - When Fall hits, it means that I only have 3 more months until presents Christmas. Yes, I am a present whore...

What do you like about Fall?

Frightful Dilemma Friday #9

Ok...

Would you rather...

Have to mow your lawn with your teeth

or

pick up your dog's poops with your hands?

So I am going away again this weekend. Trip #2 of 3 to the coast 5 hours away. Last weekend it was my sister's wedding while this weekend it will be my cousin's bachelor party. Then in 2 weeks, I go back for his actual wedding. A lot of driving, but I have to perform my groomsman duties! I was going to drive by myself this time which I was not looking forward to, but now my dad is going with me. That will make the drive a lot better. Doing that trip 3 times in 4 weeks is a lot so all the company I can get on the drive will be nice.

Have a great weekend everybody! Party it up Van Damme style!!!
