Well, you can't be happy with all your pictures. I got the concept of what I wanted, but I could not for the life of me get the flames for the burner in focus. I don't know if it was because they are transparent or what, but I could not get this as crisp as I wanted due to the lack of being able to focus.

Maybe, toward the end of your year-long journey, when you're even better at this, you can go back and redo the pictures you weren't 100% satisfied with... Just an idea.

Yes, still a cool picture. The blue and black look great together. You have the right idea. Taking random things. I agree with Jess - go back towards the end and take some of the really cool shots and see how much you have learned. I'll bet in one year it will be amazing.
Excellent concept, and definitely a cool picture. It's exactly the sort of thing that, were I a better photographer, I might try photographing for Wordless Wednesday on my own blog. I definitely agree that this would make a fun subject to revisit later. It would be a cool way to chart your growth as a photographer.
I guess I am not critical enough to be a good photographer, because I think that is such a cool shot! If I took it, I'd be all pleased with myself :-)
